    DIY digital picture frame

I've seen a few guides about how to make a digital picture frame from an old laptop, but I was wondering if anyone here has done it.

I've got 2 or 3 old beat up laptops that range from 486 DX100 to Pentium 75, which are just sitting in my parts bins. I'd like to do something Linux based. Only problem is none of the laptops boot from CD, so I'll have to make a boot floppy.

Any recommendations on the OS? I think the most RAM I have to work with is about 16MB

All it has to do is load pics and display them, but I have to be able to control it over the LAN without too much trouble.

    Re: DIY digital picture frame

I have not done this myself, but I have a book that descrbes how to do this in great detail. The book is called Linux Toys and has a bunch of cool Linux projects in it.
I got it cheaper at Walmart.com:

And here's a link to the Linux Toys web site/digital picture frame:

Hey, what a good idea! Beats paying $100+ for a 5"x7" digital frame. Links bookmarked.
