I REALLY hate the postal service

Back on Dec. 25 I bought off ebay a motherboard (I asked if it was a bad rep. board a while back) and to this day I have yet to see anything of it.
The guy has sent me two boards and BOTH had tracking abd BOTH STILL managed to get lost in the mail. It is not no scam, he is offering to send me another one but to heck with that, it will just vanish again so I am going to take his offer for a full refund. Has this ever happened to you and have you ever seen your stuff ever again?

There is also one other and more risky option.

Why not just ship it something other than USPS? And, if the guy sent you two boards, I wouldn't ask for your money back.... But there's no real way to prove that he did...

Meh, he has a whole palet of these boards and three or four was no real loss for him. At least he is nice enough to offer the money back. I can use that to buy an new IBM 3363 MO package.

yup. I've sent cap kits to canada, and had customs sit on them for over 60 days.... USPS to Canada sucks anyway, as we can not track internationally with USPS, I have to use UPS or Fedex for that. In 5 years and thousands of boards shipped via USPS, I've only had one 'disappear'. Funny thing about that, the tracking number indicated 'delivered', and the customer was swearing it never got there and insisted his money be refunded from paypal. He lost that complaint as well since I could more than adequately prove shipment and delivery. I really don't know if the package was truly 'lost' or not.

When my newton needed a replacement screen, I lookse to a guy in germany.
Package arrived in six days.

When I got that tape controller card off a fellow member who lives down under, the parcel arrived in seven days.

When I ordered a Quadra 700 computer from a guy in london ontario, I have still yet to see that system.

It seems that anything that goes from one side of the continent to the other takes forever. I ordered a set of kunai's from a guy in NY and I never saw them again.

Anyone remember the story where the postal service lost a Cray supercomputer in the mail?

My order from Wai Fong took less than 3 days... Hong Kong to California. It cost $20, but got here fast.

I bought a videoconferencing system off Ebay over a year ago. One of the two packages came on time, the other never showed up. Neither me nor the sender was able to do anything about it.

And the tracking system for USPS is useless. UPS will break things now and then, but I'd use them over USPS anyday. At least I can know where my packages are whenever I need to.

that's the understatement of the day.... I've had so many orders of cases destroyed by UPS. I swear they play basketball with them or something. Fedex has always been the best for international shipping.

I guess it depends on the driver and the local warehouse; we've probably had 3 or 4 things broken the past couple years, and we get a LOT of packages.

It seems like the stuff only gets broken when you need it right away...

....i've had the least trouble with USPS. The most trouble with FedEx. I was actually contracted out to FedEx at one point so i really have no brand loyalty. if i have to ship something domestically, i use USPS. generally cheaper and i've never had a problem.

I bet you some crack-addict got a job at the post office and he's making money off my stuff.
Right now this is happing with both USPS and Canada post.
Both have tracking and luckily both have insurance however I still have one delivered package whose tracking code tells me it's still in the toronto mail center.
