    trying to buy laptop ac adapter

    Trying to buy a replacement replica laptop ac adapter for a vaio pcg-c1xd .......

    lots of uk companies offering them. i write to one cos they have free shipping! to europe except greece not included in the list. but instead i get a reply from a different company which i already rejected earlier because they wanted 30 pounds for shipping uk-greece. seems they have several sites but same company (kinda funny to be checking out offers when it is the same company). this company now quotes 40 pounds for shipping. ah ok forget it.

    trying another company, shipping is 8 pounds!!!
    they dont accept credit card because they cant confirm address?? (i want shipping to cardholders address....)
    they want paypal with verified address (whatever that is...no address is marked verified...i use this account a lot though)

    anyway fun times....either getting ripped off or dealing with people too afraid to be frauded....

    That sounds like highway robbery 40 pounds

    I think you need to check your paypal account for details.
    but from memory
    I think they charge your card a small fee then check that its really you
    when you log in, you have to provide some number back to paypal....

    Think they put a number on your CC as the charge to appear on your credit card statment.
    The idea being when you get your statement you will see it there being from them.
    Then you need need to enter it in to you PP account...thats how they check its your address
    anyway When I did a paypal verified thing it went something like that.
    It wasn't that bad to get verified.
    But that was a long while back.

    Are you after a generic one or original replacement part...just wondering
    (don't know the specs) but places like jaycar here
    and here
    sell them (generic 3A 18 Volt whatever) but they are expensive.

    maybe find something like them on ebay or websites

    lastly its a switcher so I suppose you could fix it
    but...not worth it I suppose to you.
    you would have to charge them more then what a new one costs and its probably a totally sealed type box.....read that as pain in the rear end.

    I suppose you have chopped off the DC plug and checked it.

    Wish you better luck with this, knowing what a pain it can be to soruce things at a reasonable price

      Verified address just means that you allow them to make a small deposit into you checking account that contains your current address information and in a couple of days, you check the amount they deposited and report back to them. This "verifies" that your account address is your real address, because only you would have legal access to you bank balance information.

        actually it was lost so no repair....has a special plug also which sony dont use anymore....pity they didnt lost the laptop also, i hate that old thing

        i guess they must mean cardholders address, i didnt figure that it was possible to have paypal without a credit card. Spacedye69 is right also.

          ok that sort of answered the other side of why you didn't possibly attempt a fix

          As I said it was awhile back
          but they did Debit may CC card if memory serves and then the above

          They did give it back to you as credit on your PP account...
          think it was before they were bought out to or just after.

          I haven't looked a paypal in quite a while so things must have been changed
          anyway it wasn't to traumatic to get verified.

            well after paying by paypal, i never received confirmation of shipping and they dont reply to my emails anymore.......company is laptopbits http://www.laptopbits.co.uk/ which is actually supposed to be a good company.

            anyway i will wait a bit longer, send some more emails and then take it up with paypal...... these days the shops are leaving much to be desired while ebay sellers are bending over backwards to offer the best service.....

                its ok....delivered this morning. also received a reply today...guess they are just slow with emails.
