Re: Robosapein V2 Bot PCB repair wanted
Guess it's an optical illusion caused by more shitty manufacturing and too much flux paste. Thanks for looking that closely though. Cleaned off paste and the illusion is gone....

Re: Wanted: Reputable and responsive PCB repair company name and contact info.
Thanks for responding. The Circuit board I'm trying to get repaired is out of a Vintage Robonetics Robosapien V2 Robot Item No. 8091 sold by WowWee Robotics. Due to the use of cheap wiring material, inside the bot, the insulation on the wire decays and falls off after only a short time. When the unit is turned on a short occurs and fries components. It is not getting power. One board, that controls the motors only has a part number on it namely ( 6028-20G* ) . However the PCB that this plugs into behind...Last edited by Crashpro2003; 12-10-2022, 10:01 AM.

Wanted: Reputable and responsive PCB repair company name and contact info.
Been getting pretty tired of searching for and contacting PCB repair companies online. Filling out the company's Quote Request forms, explaining the problem, attaching photos then sending them out and hearing nothing back. Have done this at least 5 or 6 times and not one quote. Why is this? Don't these companies need or want the work? If anyone knows of a company that will do what they say, as in, supply a quote for a PCB repair. Or at least respond to me. Please let me know their name and contact information. I will be tremendously grateful. Thanks

Re: Robosapein V2 Bot PCB repair wanted
Think I may have found the issue of "no power." White smoke or heat mark on back of Main Board. Behind what might be a fuse or thermal cut off or coil for chip but unsure. It's labeled DY 4.000 See attachments. Tested across poles and it is open, no continuity. Also don't know what DY stands for or where to get a replacement. Any help will be appreciated again. Can you private message me with your thoughts on this? Being a Newb I have a tough time navigating this forum. Thanks again...

Re: Robosapein V2 Bot PCB repair wanted
Hi
I dabbed on Isopropyl alcohol (didn't soak board in it) to soften the glue and carefully picked all of it off. Bot still not working. Attention now is on the Main board marked with EW and numbered (6028-1G). Good call BTW. The mark on the board was made with a marker, not a burn mark. Shouldn't there be a copy of the schematic and board views for these boards out there somewhere?
Thanks again for all your help

Re: Robosapein V2 Bot PCB repair wanted
The glue on the board has the characteristics of rubber or contact cement. It stretches a lot before it begins to peel off. Don't want to scratch at it too hard so as to not damage any traces on it. I have found out that Mineral Spirits will help remove rubber cement. Will using it, sparingly, damage the coatings or other parts on the board?
Thanks
BTW You have been the greatest help to me so far.

Re: Robosapein V2 Bot PCB repair wanted
Wow No shit? There is a lot it on the board. I know this sounds like dumb question. But does that mean that every component that it is in contact with is potentially shorted out? I thought it was just dried liquid flux. Thanks for the information.

Re: PCB repair wanted
It's a circuit board out of a discontinued vintage Robosapein V2 Bot I'm Trying to repair. Board seems to be dead due to cheap wire insulation. It flakes and falls off, then shorts something out in all units. Bot is not working after being rewired. And I can not find the schematic or board views for it anywhere online. There appears to be a burn mark on the board which is circled in the attached photo. Although it could also be a blue company test check mark covered in flux, placed after manufacturer tested it. Not sure. Looking for someone to check over the...

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
Hey ya'll
I'm just a Grandfather from NC with 6 grand kids that likes anything Radio Controlled, fishing and fixing stuff. My first computer was a Compaq All in One. The toughest thing I was able to do with it was to use DOS to create Boot disks to try and get a Star Wars CDROM game to run without crashing, for my son. I'm here now trying to find schematics and board views to repair a Robosapien V2 robot for my grand kids.
