    HP e vectra

I have just had this given to me,the reason I am interested in it is the facts
1/ it has a comm port
    and
    2/ its got windows 2000 software .

I have some software that will not work on Vista or W7 and needs a comm port.

But it does not seem to want to work,it comes on and the cd drive activates ,no display or bleeps ,not sure if the hard drive runs up.

Has anyone got any advice to help me getting to work.

    thanks

Help with freemotion incline trainer with controller comm error
    by ronnygracias
The treadmill was working fine, one day the belt snapped and after checking the unit I also noticed that the display is now showing the Controller comm error. So I opened it up and the treadmill had two boards. One is a power supply board and the other is the motor controller. I noticed there was a mouse nest, so I took power supply board out, cleaned it up, replaced the big capacitor and that did nothing. Then I took apart the motor controller and cleaned that up, and when I plugged it in, it started right up. I thought I fixed it. But when the belt arrived, I installed it and tried to power...

Can anyone identify the classification of this data signal?
    by mscottdoran@gmail.com
Hi, I'm an elevator technician. The attached oscilloscope display picture is from a digital elevator hall arrival lantern data signal. We have been having problems with “ghost signals” causing intermittent hall arrival lanterns to illuminate randomly when the elevator is not actually due to arrive at the floor.

The tech support of the hall arrival board manufacturer (CE Electronics) is blaming the elevator controller manufacturer (MCE), and the tech support of the elevator controller blames the hall arrival board manufacturer.

The boards are powered by a ground referenced...

ICT12012-10A Comm Series folds back under load (fixed)
    by CapLeaker
Here is a ICT Comm Series, model ICT12012-10A power supply.

Complaint: Folds back to 9.3V under load (40W VHF radio).

So I open this up and see nothing visual. Took another look with my ESR meter. AND? Yeah, all caps besides the main filter cap are bad. It got a full recap, including the main filter cap.

    Replaced: C7 200V 330uF, C10 35V 22uF, C15 35V 100uF, C18 35V 47uF, C 27 35V 10uF, C28 63V 47uF, C32 and C33 16V 2200uF.

Another PSU saved from being tossed into the bin. ...

HP Thunderbolt dock G2 - "fixing" it so it can work without original HP charger?
    by double_DD
    Hi guys,

I do hope this is not off-topic.

I have this mentioned HP dock which is half-defective, as it sometimes work and sometimes not. But that's not my main issue at the moment.
I don't have any more original HP charger, and I would like to "fix" the dock so I can use it without it. Has anyone tried it, or maybe does someone know how to effectively bypass the "comm" pin of the charger?

Maybe someone has a schematic that would be useful? There are markings on the board that say P&Q 2019 CM-4 94V-0 E162264, but when I try searching...
