    Oh the memories...

Did some cleaning and stumbled on a Toshiba P25 laptop which I was gifted at the age of 14/15 (22 now).
It's a 2003/2004 model IIRC, top of the line at the time and cost a good $2999 or so.

    Specs are as follows...
    - Pentium 4 HT 3GHZ
    - 1GB RAM (max is 2gb)
    - nvidia 5200 32mb graphics
    - Harman Kardon audio
    - Brand new 17" glossy LCD screen (I put it on in 2010)
    - 60Gb HDD

This thing was a beast at one point and i loved it to bits. When I moved house 18 months ago, I shoved it in a closet and forgot its existence till today. Oh guess what? It booted from the battery with no issues! Surprised it had a little charge left lol.

Now it runs on XP home and pretty slow cause of all the garbage in there. Do you guys think I can put 7 on it with 2GB RAM and a newer "ebay special" 7200RPM HDD?

Would love to relive my childhood for a bit longer lol.

    Thanks.

32-bit Win7 should be just fine on there (I won't run x64 with less than 4GB).

otherwise (assuming the processor is 64-bit) I'd upgrade the RAM and install Win7 x64 (or Gentoo!).

only if its a 775 3ghz, would it have 64-bit support. But if its 478/479 (socket P)...then no

if the max is 2GB, then it is probably DDR, which means it is highly unlikely to be a 775 (though they did make laptop's with 775 desktop cpu's, they're rare). Put XP on it, 7 would run just terribly with 1GB unless you disabled a lot of shit

        Greeting folks...

Well, in true old fart fashion, it seems I have a client who put a boot lock (padlock on the initial boot screen) on his ancient Macbook. I've done the forum search & Google Ranger attack & have found nothing with regard to working/clean bios to redo the job.

The original offloaded bios is attached. Hopefully, one of you code-reading/writing Gods can figure this one out for me.

Thank you so much in advance. I just know there are many of you folks that just love 15 year old tech. (sarcasm, It drives me nuts having to re-learn...

        Samsung UE60KS7000 No Standby Light
        by marcinq
        Hello,

I've got a problem with a Samsung UE60KS7000 that was given to me and said that there was a problem with the One Connect box but as I understand the TV should turn on even with the One Connect box disconnected (which it doesn't). There is no stand by light.

I've disconnected the Main Board from the PSU and when connecting to mains the backlight turns on which suggests the PSU might be ok. I've measured the voltages out of the PSU and they seem reasonable (like the labels say). The main board has no obvious burns, there are no shorts on the power rails anywhere....

        MSI PRO Z690-A DDR4 (MS-7D25) - stuck during boot every second time - debug code 16 & A1
        by DynaxSC
        Hi Folks

I have an MSI PRO Z690-A DDR4 (MS-7525) which underwent LGA1700 replacement and had a missing resistor in the VRM section. The missing resistor RV170 (49,9Ω) has been resoldered, and I have also replaced a demaged LGA1700 socket.

Generally the board does boot to Windows, but not always in the first attempt, but after the second attemp to boot the board with Power Button. Also restarting the board from Windows ends up with stuck boot process, but restarting the board again (long push Power Button or switching off and on PSU). Under Windows etherything works
