    ATX Desktop Cases

I may be turning some parts i have into a media box.

I'd like to find a case that is flat like a desktop case and would go well on a shelf with a large s-vhs VCR on top of it.

It also needs to be ATX, as thats what my board is. Unless I could find a decent 775 c2d uATX board for cheap...

I've seen a few pics of such cases... but they were new units that were a bit out of budget and honestly flimsy looking.

Anybody have some suggestions? Even OEM models that used such cases (beware that a standard PSU must be able to fit inside).

The thing is, unfortunately most ATX desktop cases use a mni-ATX PSU. However, Thermaltake and Cooler Master do have some nice HTPC desktop cases which also use ATX PSUs but are pricey (over $150) if you're lucky, you can get a second hand one for peanuts on eBay.

I know that compaq (later, HP) used them for thier Evo convertible mini-towers... but they used non-standard PSUs. The same design existed for the deskpro and used a standed PSU, but I can't remember if those had all 7 slots available (or just 4).

The deskpro more or less DID use a standard PSU:

Anybody have one of those in their junk bin?

Very sturdy but ugly beige. Maybe a little yellowing on some of the plastic.
