      The 2022 Operating System Thread
      by momaka
Well first off, Nappy New Year to everyone!

So what's going on?! - How come we don't have an OS thread for this year? Did everyone just move to using phones? Windows 11 killed everything? Or perhaps now that some of us have the Covid vaccines, I guess M$ is already running in our bodies so we don't really need computers anymore, right? (OK, I probably better not open that can of worms here. )

Anyways, ya'll know the drill: vote what OS you're running on your "main" PC.

I know that might be tricky for all of...

      Alternative Browsers for older machines
      by bigbeark
Firefox just seizes up when I try to play YouTube video on older machines.
I did a search and found a list of the following alternative lightweight browsers: UR Browser,
K-Meleon, Midori, Pale Moon and MaxThon 5.

I have visited all the websites. Midori and Pale Moon are available as binaries in Debian and Ubuntu flavours. Looks like the distro of choice for these is Xubuntu. You use Terminal commands to download the repositories. Has anyone tried this and what was the experience like? Is it likely one can stream HTML5 on 32-bit single core machines like Socket A or dual...

Sharp LC-70LE757U, YouTube/web browser security warning, certificate not trusted
      by DXseekerMO
      Hello again everyone!

I have a Sharp LC-70LE757U. When I try to sign on to YouTube or access some apps I get a security warning saying "The server www.youtube.com presented a certificate issued by an entity that is not trusted, proceed anyway?" If I proceed this same warning continuously pops up.

If I factory reset the TV sometimes the apps will come up, and sometimes I have to factory reset the TV up to 3 times to get them to work. The apps will then work until the next day and I have to reset the TV again, sometimes up to 3 times to get them to work....
