I already did most of that, it is clearly a CPU socket issue. I know there was a split trace that I had to wire bridge... I think that may be related. the lesson: don't use a measly 30W iron for heavy ground planes... (which reminds me, I need to order the parts to get my "new" 60W weller iron running)
I may have another server/workstation board/cpu combo in the works... not 100% sure yet... but if it works out, it will have socket 604 xeons (x2), 1gb 266mhz ECC DDR (from what I have now), and possibly a decent ATI graphics card... with any luck, the board might even fit in the blue case from post #1... (not to count the chickens before the eggs have been laid, let alone hatched)
