    Updating a BIOS on ASROCK

Hi. I am not too up on installing BIOS so am looking for a little direction installing a BIOS update.
    https://www.asrock.com/MB/AMD/AB350%...index.asp#BIOS

    I have an ASROCK AB350 Pro4 that is running a P3.00 BIOS.
CPU is AMD Ryzen5 1500X which I believe is a "Summit Ridge."
Before I go ahead and update it to the latest version, I thought I would ask whether my plan is right to try and be sure I don't make a mess of things.
It appears that the latest BIOS for this chip is the 5.80; therefore I need to install (one at a time)…

    1. BIOS 3.40, then
    2. AMD all in 1 with VGA driver ver:18.50.16.01_WHQL, then
    3. BIOS 5.40, then
    4. BIOS 5.80

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks. Paul

Re: Updating a BIOS on ASROCK

That is seriously the most convoluted BIOS flashing process I have ever seen. It's almost easier to install a newer AM4 processor just so you can skip most of those steps.

Yes, your chip is Summit Ridge. Your order of installations looks correct.

        🛠️ MSI GP75 Leopard MS-17E71 – No Display, Deep BIOS/EC Troubleshooting
        by macabook
        Hello everyone,

I’m currently working on a dead MSI GP75 Leopard (MS-17E71) motherboard (i7 CPU, NVIDIA GPU) with a no display/no backlight issue initially. After extensive investigation, I’m at a critical stage involving EC firmware, BIOS/ME region interaction, and possible deep corruption. I'm seeking advanced insight from anyone with experience in EC/BIOS sync issues or PCH-level behavior. Here’s a full breakdown:
        🧩 Initial Issue
        • Board powers on (fans spin, keyboard lights up and can be adjusted, caps lock led lights), but no display or backlight
        • External display (HDMI) shows

Request: Full BIOS dump for ASRock Z790-CX (DDR5)
        by gabrieljma1
        Hello everyone,

I’m looking for a full raw 16 MB BIOS dump for an ASRock Z790-CX (DDR5) motherboard.

The board powers on (fans spin, RGB lights on, RAM LEDs active), but there is no display output and the VGA and BOOT LEDs stay lit.
I’m using an Intel i9-14900KF CPU (14th gen), and it seems the BIOS version on my board doesn’t support it yet. I tried to flash the official ASRock BIOS file (renamed .ROM → .BIN) directly using my RT809H programmer, but it didn’t work — monitor stays on but with black screen, so I believe the ASRock update file is not a complete...

ASRock B650M PRO RS - BIOS CHIP 25Q256JW BLOCKED BY STATUS REGISTERS
        by DynaxSC
        Hi

I have a very strange issue with the BIOS SPI chip of an ASRock B650M PRO RS motherboard.
The SPI chip is an Winbond 25Q256JWEQ model (1V8).
The motherbaord doas not POST - it lits only CPU and DRAM EZ Debug Leds, and stays that way forever.
The Flashback function of the motherbaord is also not working, despite all instructions followed correctly - I'm 100% sure of this.

I have then desoldered the chip, backupped the contents, and tried to earease the chip in order to program stock image, but the chip is locked by status registers SREG2 (TB) and SREG6...

ASUS Zenbook Pro Duo UX8402ZA BIOS
        by pirati
        Hello everyone,

I recently bought a non-working Asus Zenbook Pro Duo OLED UX8402ZA that was listed for parts only. The seller mentioned that it had no display output but that the charging lights worked.

When the laptop arrived (without a charger and SSD), I connected a charger and confirmed with a multimeter that it was charging the battery. However, when I tried to power it on, only the backlight of the secondary display came on. There was no image, and it didn’t boot into the BIOS.

I decided to try flashing a new BIOS, but since I didn’t want to desolder...
