    Identifying component

    Hi all,

I am trying to identify a small component black in colour with white band on one side with marking '3T' only. It looks like a SMD Tantalum and its size is approx 2mm x 1mm with two contact (one either end).

It has a small bulge in the middle so looks like it has blown and I would like to replace it!

Thanks for any help you can offer.

      Thanks for your time.

Looks a bit small for a tantalum. Looks more like a diode to me, although I cannot find any references to the code.

Possibly it's Schottkey of Fast Recovery type diode, because it located near DC-DC circuit (inductor, power transistor and switch-mode controller IC.)

Thanks for everyones help so far on this.

I managed to locate a visually identical component on a different laptop motherboard so used this to replace the one in the photo, but the fault is still there. I guess that this blown component must have been the result of another faulty component on the board

I guess there is no saying that the component I used was fully working, but it didnt have the visual bulge like the one in the picture.

Can you give us some more info.

What does the part look like? What board is it on?

A picture would help even more.
