Surveillance receiver capacitor?

Hello all I'm having a issue with my surveillance camera and I believe it's related to this, the attached picture does that look like it leaked and what is it as I know normal caps has numbers on it

That's not a cap, its a crystal. That gunk appears to be glue....or something spilled. Have you tried cleaning that crud off?

Thanks for the quick reply yes it appears to be solid so it might just be glue?

Yes, that is glue to hold the crystal to the board, if left loose the only thing holding it to the board are the leads and it could break off the board.

Try cleaning all that glue off. I've seen it become conductive as it ages and cause issues with things (slim chance but possible). Just be careful cleaning it so not to damage components or traces.

Nothing jumped out at me as 'bad', so looks like it's time to get the test equipment out.

crystals seldom fail, especially the pins re not contaminated with glue
