    Replacement for SAMWAH WL-Series 100uf 450V

I am looking for a replacement cap:

    SAMWAH
    100uf
    450V
    - 40 - 105c
    WL-Series (Extremely Low Impedance)
    16x40 @ 5mm spacing
    1100-1200 ma

This cap is from a Samsung BP96-01726B Sub Power Supply board in a 61A750 DLP. I have searched Mouser and DigiKey for suitable replacements compared to WL datasheet specs but no joy. The applicable SAMWAH datasheet does not give any actual impedance specs at this voltage so I am thinking it is not critical ?? Anyone have any experience with this cap and better yet a replacement on this board at (CB800). It is the only one I can't find a suitable sub for. Thanks in advance.

If you believe Samwah's 1100mA ripple spec. (I'm not sure I would take that at face value personally) finding a replacement from a reputable manufacture that matches/exceeds that spec in that case size is extremely difficult/impossible.

The Rubycon BXW comes in a 16mmX42mm case with a 770mA ripple rating, the Nichicon UCP/UPH come in a 16mmX37.5mm case with a 730mA ripple rating, both have 7.5mm lead spacing though (may or may not be an issue with your application).

Thanks. I had the same thoughts about the ripple specs but also have concerns about using something with a lower rating and not fully understanding the circuit. Guess I will have to take a closer look at the circuit design/layout and see if I can determine if there is some wiggle room in the SAMWAH spec. I have found some of SAMWAH's specs/dims to differ from what is on the datasheets so I would not be surprised if either of the alternatives you sourced would work just fine. I have a "bit" of room to play with as far as a size; maybe 20x45 max, though I might be able to go a bit larger with a less than vertical installation for this device. Not much room between the TV's lower cover and this board (and its components) once installed. I am hoping I might find someone who has solved this problem previously and found a device that works in this position (and continues to work) since these Sammy boards are known for bad caps...... still hoping but, might be time for some careful R&D .

Just ran across this device on Mouser. Never used this brand before but this might work. What do you think? That is if I can find it in stock!!

Looks like the Lelon is in "Unobtainous" status so I am going with a Rubycon 450TXW100MEFC18X35. Physical size (can make it work), specs (ripple @ 105c/100kHz = 1.11A) should meet the need. Will report back in case anyone is interested! Will provide list of all caps I used to rework these two boards if everything performs as expected. Thanks.

Recap complete. Set is working like new.... possibly better than when new . Amazing what a few "good" caps and a new DMD chip can do to improve image quality on this old DLP!

                  Hello,
Just opened a fake Nichicon cap. Checked the technical data, and nothing matches. The capacitance and ESR are okay though. Interestingly, the legs are made of brass ...

Macbook Air M2 A2681 Kernel panics after screen replacement
                  by reformatt
Just had a customer bring in a M2 MBA A2681 that had had a screen replacement in April at another repairer. Since then, she has been getting intermittent kernel panics. It's an aftermarket screen, and of course it fails in diagnostics as the calibration hasn't been done. The error in the panic log is "No device added after powering on the rails".

It seems the original repairer has swapped the board and the screen to other MAC's, and said that it isn't a screen issue. From what I understand, by doing a quick search on Google, this is in fact a screen issue. The panic relates...

Unknown transformer : how to find a good replacement part ?
                  by the_rem
                  Hello guys,

I would like a quite old but still good 800 W ATX PSU to be repaired. The problem was an extremely heavy coil whine coming from the small secondary transfomer on the PCB.

I desoldered it hoping the references on the upper side would allow me to find a adequate replacement part. Sadly the written references drove me nowhere but to the manufacturer (I-MAG). I sent them a message like a bottle in the see asking them to send me a datasheet of the transformer. And... They responded ! I received a kind of datasheet (see attachment) but my competencies do not allow...

PS4 controller left stick potentiometer replacement issue
                  by ezenia
                  Hello,

Not sure if this is the correct section, but I have a PS4 controller that I am trying to fix. It developed stick drift on the left stick and the usual simpler methods did not fix the problem.

So I went on eBay and ordered some replacement potentiometers. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/174967976757 is where I got them from.

I took the green potentiometers off the replacement sticks and soldered them onto the PCB. Assembled the controller and ran some tests. The drifting was somewhat fixed (not fully in center, but way better than before). However,...

i have a 2020 macbook pro 13" A2251 with 820-09149 logic board so i found an issue with chip labeled U6903 according to schem. boardview using flexBV software, so i removed it from the board and the issue im having is that the chip says "07A08FI ELC180" on top of it but when searching for a replacement chip, i can find tons of identical looking chips that also have "ELC180" printed on them but the first set of digits is never the same so im trying to find out if i need this exact chip with these same numbers as mine and if not which ones are compatible as a replacement?...
