    SAMXON GF(M) 10V 4700uF ripple?

Just pulled apart a failing Cooler Master 650W pc power supply and found a bulging SAMXON GF cap... I checked the datasheet for the GF series and it doesn't seem to list anything for a 4700uF 10V product.
Just wondering if anyone out there might have info on it so I can replace it with something suitable, or perhaps suggest an alternative?

        around 2200ma
        esr about 0.030

panasonic FR kicks it's ass on performance in all figures.
maybe a little too much - hard to say.

esr is about the same with the FR's, but ripple rating is 3630 according to their datasheet. Should I be trying to stick closer to the GF figures or will a much higher ripple be ok?

higher ripple handling is always best.

Thank you for taking the time to reply, I'll order a couple of FR caps to replace the two GF's on the board.
The rest of the caps on it are SAMXON KM(M)'s, so I'm not overly impressed with what I paid for a Cooler Master product, even if it was a few years ago! At least there doesn't seem to be anything visually wrong with the rest of them...

GF's are known to fail on intel motherboards - so we know about them!

I haven't read anything good about them! Not too many complaints about the KM series though, so I might just leave them in and get a better quality PSU next time

Is it too politically incorrect for me to admit that I giggled a little when I realized that this won't be the first time I've ditched GF's once they start to bulge? :P

they usually fail without any external signs - something else they have in common with women!

All bad GFs I have ever seen were bulged. And I've seen some already.

Too much lower ESR over original is never a good thing for PSUs (oscillation etc.). (Sometimes it makes very little difference if you put lower ESR or higher ESR in there, lower capacity or higher capacity, the PSU just does not care.) One would already expect you got some knowledge of using too low ESR in PSU after 13k posts, but I just guess you troll in off topic section.

I plan on stocking 4700/6.3 D10x25 later on, hopefully this year…

Is it no harm to replace with capacitor without ripple current rating?

When I tried to repair LG 29 inch CRT TV, I found that the ESR value of samyoung SMS capacitor(160v 2.2uf), which is very close to D1879 transistor, is 6 ohm.

Judging from above ESR Meter Table,I think It is necessary to replace this sms capacitor. So I visited local electronics shop, and I purchased 160v 2.2uf rubycon YK capacitor.
But when I browse through rubycon YK datasheet,I found that there is no ripple current rating for 160v 2.2uf specification. But On the contrary, I found 39 mA ripple current rating for 160v 2.2uf SMS capacitor.

What are typical ripple voltages on a laptop motherboard?
                            by Antonynl
I have here a HP pavilion hp 15-cs2975nd with a 1.095v power supply that is driven by a FDMF3035. I do see about 80mV of ripple on my scope. I searched through the datasheet to find possible values of the ripple but I don't understand the datasheet well enough.

                            So I have two questions:
                            1) what is the typical ripple voltages of gpu/cpu on a laptop or pc mobo?
                            2) what would be the max ripple of a FDMF3035 that drives an output of 1.095V?

Would be nice to have a rule of thumb of say a percentage of the supply voltage to be an acceptable ripple voltage....

Hello, I have this arcade power supply that I'd like to recap for maximum reliability and lifetime since I have found some Capxon and Jamicon capacitors:
                            • Capxon GL 10x25 1000uf 16V Ripple: 1180 Impedance: 0.05ohm // Chemi-con KY 1000uf 16V Ripple: 1400 Impedance: 0.046ohm
                            • Capxon GL 10x12.5 470uf 16V Ripple: 722 Impedance: 0.095ohm
                            • Capxon GS 10x15 22uf 50V 85ºC Ripple: 100
                            • Capxon KM 47uf 50V Ripple: 125
                            • Jamicon TK 1uf 50V Ripple: 12
                            • Jamicon TK 4.7uf 50V Ripple: 36

I have another PSU (same model) that uses Chemi-con KY instead of Capxon GL, and since Panasonic FC are very...

Is there a manufacturers tolerance for ripple?
                            by Ady2017
                            Hi all

I need to replace a 680uF 35V SamYoung NXB cap which has got a ripple of 1820. Whilst passing my local little electronics shop I picked up what they had in stock which was a 680uF 35V Panasonic FC with a ripple of 1655.

As the ripple rating is only 9% below what the original was I am wondering whether to risk it and fit it.

The catalogues specify a capacitance tolerance of +/-20% but state nothing about the ripple. If there is a similar tolerance for ripple then I might be worrying about nothing. Does anybody know?

                            Thanks

Lenovo 530 Vcore : what is the maximum ripple?
                            by Antonynl
                            Hi

I have a Lenovo 530 14ikb i5 8th gen motherboard and it fails to start Windows: it normally dies after I try to load Windows. Getting into bios screen works fine.

Made some measurements and I suspect that there is to much ripple on the 2 Vcore coils.

What is normally the maximum ripple allowed on say any of the power supplies? A few %??

The ripple is on both Vcore as outlined in red in attached photos.

                            Could be a bad driver?

                            Cheers...
