    Broken video card capacitor

    Hi guys,

Well, yesterday I was adding some new thermal paste to my processor and my video card (Leadtek Winfast A400 GT) fell down and hitted the ground with a capacitor and when I lifted up, the capacitor flew away, it wasn't in the video card anymore, so I want to know which are the specs of this capacitor to buy a new one.

Here is the picture. It says, "A (with a square on top) 46U", then "330" and finally "16v"

So is it 330uF and 16v? I think Sanyo has one with that specs, the model is 16SVP330M Here is a picture of the Sanyo Model

    Thanks everyone.

Hopefully the traces weren't torn off when the board fell that would be a whole other can of worms.

I'm sorry but I didn't understand what you mean about traces, sorry my bad. Could you explain it to me.

This is a picture of my video card without the capacitor.

This is a picture of my video card without the capacitor. Here
Traces are the wires you see on the video card leading to a jungle of places. They are painted on and can be easily damaged. Judging from your photos, they look undamaged and are all OK.

Your lucky in most cases when that happens at least one trace happily parts ways with the cap .

It looks like the old caps legs are still soldered to the traces be sure to remove them before you install your new cap.

Also be sure to write down that you are replacing C149 since there is an unused cap spot C150 right below it.

For me is not that easy because here in Mexico it's imposible to find the new Sanyo capacitor, there are only electrolytic capacitors here, it's sad, and for ebay sending it to Mexico, I'm going to wait like months to recieve it.

Does anybody have an idea to have the replacement capacitor faster than ebay?

                Thanks all.

Almost any 330uF 16v would do if there's enough room to fit it in.

only if its a ultra low esr type.
