    Check my choices

Tried to turn my CNC machine on last week, and got nothing. Checked and found low voltage on the main output. (5v)

Found a couple caps with high ESR and figured I would replace all the electrolytic caps.

This is on a Deltron 4 output power supply. (+5,+15,-15,+24.)

Thing was made in 1990, all the caps have 1990 date code on them.

Seems like none of the exact caps are made anymore because of the lead free rules.

So, based on the info I could find, and what Digi-key had in stock here are my choices:

Everything was rated 85c, 20% and 2000 hours.

    1200uf, 200v had Nichicon LK, replace withVishay 157 PUM-SI
    2200uf, 35v had Chemi-con SME, replace with Chemi-con SMG
1000uf, 35v had Elna RE, replace with Nichicon UKL
220uf, 35v had Elna RE2, replace with Nichicon UKL
4700uf, 10v had Elna RE2, replace with Nichicon UKL
100uf, 16v had Shoei ?, replace with Nichicon UKL

    Thanks, Jim

I would replace it with this all 105C, 20% 2000 or + hours
however i need to know more space inside the power supply, distance between leads on the caps, and size of the can just in case its a tight space some pics would help thanks
Yes i love Nichicon MUSE Audio Capacitors...they would look awesome all over any motherboard

      Re: Check my choices

What I try to do is for example if you've a 1200uf 200v electroltyic capacitor replace it with a 1200uf 220 or or 250v capacitor.Note sometimes it's hard to do this due to the space available etc.I'am not suggesting that Digi-key sells fake capacitors but just that ppl should be aware that their are companies making capacitors and putting false labels on them.I also agree with the previous post that that Nichicon MUSE Audio Capacitors are usually pretty good and if you plan on keeping the power supply awhile get the longest lasting capacitors that you can find.Check mouser and other sites to compare prices etc.

I sent the order in Friday afternoon, before I read the replies.
Will see how it works with what I ordered.

        Thanks

EV dsp, replace the nippons lxz with nichicon fw ?
          by spiros.p
Hi guys.I have two EV dsp processors and before two years i do full recap to both. The units have before recup thousands hours running. On output input coupling caps (16 pieces) i solder nippon lxz series 100mf 63v (this time i don't have other stock) i know is low esr caps.Last week have found and order nichicon fw standard audio series. Is a good reason to replace the nippons lxz with nichicon fw ? The units get better sound? Or get worse? Thanks for any advice.

Capacitor Diarrhea - Nichicon PL Series
          by DrewPhillips
Hello All, I have on the bench a couple of PSU's which have some failed Nichicon PL series caps. They didn't "puke" their guts through the top, but instead "diarrhea'ed" corrosive brown electrolyte through the bottom, down the legs and onto the board. On one cap, the electrolyte rotted the cap right off the board leaving 2 little stubs, and also corroded a trace on the foil side.

The PSU's are Power-One MAP series and are ringing-choke topology. The semiconductors have date codes in 1993. The PSU's were used in a commercial application, fan-cooled. They had failed...

          Mid/late 80's Nichicon Yellow Caps
          by nick3092
I recently acquired a set of Bose Roomate speakers from the mid to late 80's. Basically the right speaker cabinet is completely passive, and the left one has the power transformer and amplifier circuit in it. Out of curiosity, I opened it up to see what the circuit looked like. Looks like they used all Nichicon VX (2x 4700uF/16v for smoothing off the bridge rectifier), a couple random Nichicon SE series sprinkled on the board, and what really caught my eye - 2 yellow sleeved Nichicon caps (both 1uF/50v with no real series marking. Below are pictures of the caps. The only thing not shown in these...
