    Recappers in Raleigh, NC

Are there by any chance recappers in Raleigh, NC? I have an ECS motherboard with a bulging OST cap. It's not misbehaving yet, but I don't trust it.

Since you are living in the USA. You should contact Topcat (Owner of the forum) for a quote to repair the bad cap on your motherboard. You can get your motherboard to Topcat by sending it in a parcel or similar I guess.

Topcat's Acer Dual Slot 1 Server? - The Acer Altos 1100
      by ratdude747
...Before y'all ask, no, I'm not Topcat! ...

Anyway, while unsuccessfully hunting down a rig (or parts for such) for my Dad's future gaming rig, I saw something I thought was Topcat's cup of tea... and it was. It also happened to be "local" to me (as a pickup only item), so I was dispatched to fetch this rig until the next time I head out to MO (which is a semi-regular occurance these days, between family and tradebait ).

Anyway, I shot pics, and he said to post them, so here we go!

Topcat's Supermicro X10DAI Build - Plus NVMe BIOS Mod Inside
      by Topcat
Yes, I know I don't post this stuff much anymore....the only reason I'm posting this one is because of a NVMe adapter incompatibility; seems rather planned by Supermicro.....or I'm atleast a bit suspicious. It's plenty new enough to have a UEFI bios but a short 'happy list' of NVMe controllers that will work with this board, as if by some 'miracle', all Intel....so lets start at the beginning; we'll get back to this later.

Of course the motherboard is as the thread title states; X10dai....but we'lre going to have some fun shoehorning this into a modern 'gamer case' that can actually...

Ram regulator misbehaving DDR3 VTT voltage Tps 51216
      by shakib200
The ram regulator produces VTT voltage of 0.65V and the display comes. When we restart the laptop the VTT voltage becomes 0.75 and no display.[Used same ddr3l ram].
Also, it becomes 1.35 V on the ram coil and all are okay but after restarting Voltage becomes 1.5V with no display.

Aaand that is why I have trust issues..
      by madan1
Finally managed to find some time (and will) to replace my "temporary" ghetto full bridge rectifier, removed the diodes, soldered the new one (of course according to its polarity), powered the unit and after few pops the magic smoke escaped. Right, must have done something wrong, install a new one, check for shorts and bad regulators.. power on.. and again the familiar popping sound, but this time managed to cut the power before the magic smoke had escaped. After several hours of wild goose chase I found that the polarity of some of the brand new rectifiers was reversed.. so just keep...

MajorGeeks / Simplix Win7 Rollups - Trust or Not Trust?

Seems its a liked rollup.....but when the support site for it is in Russian, lets just say I'm skeptical. I've rolled it out on a couple test systems, nothing exploded....but what's the man behind the curtain done that isn't known? What's say any of you?
