    V-Chip Identification

    Hi,

I am trying to revive an old UPS. It has 2 types of outlets. Surge Outlets providing just surge protection and battery outlets which provides the UPS shut down functionality in case of a power out. Surge outlets are working fine but battery outlets are not providing any power. (It was working fine until I shut the unit done). Replacing the batteries does not resolve the problem. Also not a fuse problem

As the unit is at least some 15 years I thought as a first trouble shooting step I will replace all the capacitors. The caps involved comprises of regular electrolytics and SMD V-chips. I am confused by the specs of these V chips and should be grateful for assistance.

They are only marked on the top, over 3 lines. Examples are:

    4.7
    25S
    B13

    22
    16S
    H92

    10
    35S
    H23

I assume the first line denotes the capacitance, the second the voltage and the third the batch. So for the first example above, the values are 4.7uF, 25 Volts (no idea what the S is for, manufacturer perhaps), batch B13. The alternative is these markings needs to be referenced to some sort of conversion table for the actual specs.

I have searched the web extensively but with no joy and any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

    Repair Success! Middle Atlantic UPS2200R-IP
    by valvashon
Yesterday I successfully repaired a Middle Atlantic UPS2200R-IP that had inadvertently been used as a surge suppressor at our transmitter site. It has already been replaced with an updated one but it's coming home with me now instead of being e-cycled. To be specific, this is the MA model that has the blue backlit display and has been discontinued, although this design may have been used in many UPS units including the smaller Middle Atlantic ones in this series.

Here's what happened: We experienced a brownout/surge at the site, which damaged the UPS and took our broadcasting...

    Acer predator XB241YU Component identification
    by Shulgin
    Hello everyone,
I have a problem with my Acer predator XB241YU screen. When I plug it in, the startup LED turns on instantly, and I can't turn off the screen without unplugging it.
After disassembly and inspection of the electronic cards I found what looks like a broken inductor, it is marked with the letter A and is at location L58.
In the first photo you can see the broken component, in the second photo you can see where it is on the board, in the third photo you can see the silkscreen and in the fourth photo you can see the identification sticker of the main board
    I...

Upgrading Whole Home Surge Protector MOVs (Eaton CHSPT2SURGE)
    by nobbnobb1
I have a whole home surge protector (Eaton CHSPT2SURGE). This is the lower end model as compared to the CHSPT2ULTRA. When I took it apart, I noticed it's basically the same PCB as the higher end model, just missing the extra MOVs for higher capacity. Coincidentally, I have a pack of brand new Bourns 20D241K MOVs laying around:
    https://www.digikey.ca/en/products/d...0D241K/2799098

The only thing I noticed is that these Bourns MOVs are not thermally protected with a fuse. I'm wondering if it's safe to just simply install these extra MOVs for extra capacity,...
