    Good Caps

I have a great little P4S Soyo Dragon Ulta with some poped green Wendel and SZ202 caps and need a good solid brand to replace them with a good cap formula and durable. I even heard UCC has had problems, so whats your two pennies on this??

    Thank you

    Re: Good Caps

All major brands have some series of capacitors that are problematic or more sensitive to heat and humidity and other factors.
UCC only had a few series that were bad, KZG is KZJ are most often seen "in the wild". The other series from UCC today are not known to have problems.

You'll have to tell us exactly what's written on the capacitors to give you some replacement suggestions. Can't put some random capacitors there, the esr and ripple must be as close as possible or better compared to the old capacitors.

Those starting with SZ is obvious, those capacitors are well known for being faulty. The others... can't say that I've heard of Wendel.

Wendell. Quite common in the Socket A era. Fail after fail. I would use Panasonic or Nichicon as the replacements.

Had seen plenty of those Socket-A boards with badcaps. Pretty common sight, due to to extensive cost cutting from the mainboard manufacturers. One good example would be ECS K7VZA with those (awful) G-Luxons, which will bulge even when not in use. Used to replace them with Rubycon MBZ series capacitors (already discontinued), though had no complaints nor returns so far even though there were comments about bad batches. Nowadays mostly using Nichicons (HM, HZ, PM, PW and PS series), Panasonics (FK and FR series) and Nippon Chemicons (KZE series) for these mainboards...

I seen Wendell last 6 years easily, at least on my SY-K7VTA-B.
Were still good in 2008! But then one next to the ATX power clip suddenly bulged shortly after January 21, 2008, lol.

Seems at least better than GSC and a lot of early Lelons. Seems on par with Ost and the like...

Chhsi was terrible, at least the real-late-1990s and early-2000s versions. It also don't help that most bad caps were during the Bush era...

Ok, been absent for good reasons. Here is what I have and I have check the Badcaps kits with no lucky.
I have 8-2200uF 6.3v SACON, 1-1500uF 6.3vWendell,5-1000uF 6,3vWendell, 2-470uF 6.3v Wendell. than are or about to go. I also started to order by Digikey but could not figure out the "Ripple Current". I really feel I should be replacing all of them, any chance there is a full kit somewhere????

How do you figure the Ripple Current?????

6.3V 2200uF - this, or this, or this.
              6.3V 1500uF - this.
              6.3V 1000uF - this.
              6.3V 470uF - this.

Please note that I am assuming your caps are 10mm wide. If they're 8mm, then the 10mm wide caps I have posted here will not fit.

                  Re: Good Caps

Yes, you should replace all the caps.

If you want to know the exact ripple ratings for the caps, you will need the datasheets.

For the Wendel caps, find out what series they are, it should be printed on the cap. SZ I think is Teapo SZ, so look up the datasheet.
