    Have a question

I'm not 100% sure if this could be a cap. problem... But a couple weeks ago i powered down my computer and went to go power it back up because it crashed. As i was powering it up, my mother board lights flashed a couple times telling me everything was okay, then it died. When i say died i mean completly, luckly whatever got to my mother board didn't get to my hard drive. I tried re-booting and i got nothing, no power just crickets cherping in the background. So i figured maybe my power supply went bad, so i changed it around. Finally i get something, the fans and everything turn on but that is about it. As for the processer no juice is getting into it, I can tell by keeping the fan off and simply placing my fingure on top of it (Wouldn't suggest that way of testing to anyone else i still got some battle scars) and there was no heat at all. I tried throwing in a new processer and got the same problem. So could someone please tell me how i could fix this. I know i could simply go out and buy another computer which i have. I would just like to know what i can do to keep my other one alive. The computer that crashed is a compaq persario SR1500X or something like that. It is fairly new, just decided to die on me. Well if you can help me i would really appreciate it, my email address are mortality_aod[at]hotmail.com, tha_rathan[at]hotmail.com, red_mist[at]netscape.com... I think those are tha only email addresses i have. Well once again thx to whoever can give me help, if not thx for looking.

    Re: Have a question

    welcome to badcaps forums!
btw we suggest troubleshooting be done right here on the forum so someone else with the same problem will benefit later on.
and first step is to clear cmos.
if data about cpu, multiplier, fsb, ddr, is corrupted it may prevent posting.
btw post pics of the mobo and sytem, psu, ect.
some of those compaq boxes use a proprietary 24 pin psu.
you will get exactly nothing if you try a standard 24 pin atx.

      Re: Have a question

I don't have a camera at the moment... If I found an exact replica online and posted it could that possibly help so you would know what you are dealing with. When i try to boot up my computer i get absolutly nothing, i've tryed clearing Cmos and everything else by switching the jumpers and all. You think you could tell me step by step to do all the other troubleshooting stuff... Thank you for your help....

        Re: Have a question

Just checking my motherboard reading all the small print on it, and i looked near the power slot area on the motherboard. It said ATXPWR... So im going to assume it does take the standard ATX power supply...
