But they are actually proved to be unreliable in this forum...

And I found OST TK series are different from the Japanese Ones...

Maybe that is the reason.

It's because TK's head office is in Japan, and they think that Japanese = reliable. What they don't know is that TK are actually made in Taiwan.

I love putting bad caps and flat batteries in fire and watching them explode!!

Heathkit IO-4205 Power Supply Caps

Hello,

First, I am a complete noob with high voltage stuff. I'm learning, but I need help by someone looking over my shoulder.

I recently came into posession of a Heathkit IO-4205 5MHz Dual Trace Oscilloscope. The documentation is copyright 1978. I'm told it works.

I opened it up to check the caps before I applied power, and found the following black caps and wanted to know what they were. They are on the power supply board. I was able to read the name and model and came up with, "Nytronics 162J-1, 0.1uF, 20% tolerance, 2000VDC."

are what i used because i had heard the voltage doesn't matter as long as it is more than the original cap. i'm now reading that high voltage may make the cap's esr too high. is this a good cap for replacing those oem ones?
