I have an asrock P4S61 board that has a bubbletop cappy. Here are the specs:

    taicon
    0416 (M)
    105 celcius
    6.3v 1000uF

farnell carries several types of the above specs. any advice on which one to get?

    thanx.

You'll need the low ESR ones. The 1000uF or 1200uF 6.3v (or 10v) would do if they are of good brand low ESR Japanese capacitor.

You'll also need to inspect further, is the cap near the cpu socket? Are there any similar caps on the mobo? What is the diameter? You should replace them too if the problem sill exist after recapping. IMO your chance of success is great if the mobo still able to POST before the recapping..

This is the caps i recommend:
    1000uF & 1200uF 8mm 10v Caps
    1000uF & 1200uF 10mm 10v Caps
days are so short when you actually do something..
