HN to replace HM - V-Core

Have an eMachines motherboard here that had bad v-core HM's (8). I've got HN's in the correct size and value (2200/6.3).

I see ripple would be just fine, but looks like impedance is 11 vs. original 18.

    Is that okay?

This motherboard is 5 years old and even though 6 of the 8 were leaking electrolyte, was running just fine up until I pulled them off. The rest of the caps on the board look fine visually, so I'm going to leave the rest and if there are ever future problems deal with it then, if the computer is still in use that long.

That's fine. I've done that replacement loads of times and I have never had any issues.

Do it. I think the ESR variance is only 0.002 and you get better ripple suppression.

It's back up and running. Haven't done anything with it, it's only been running for a few minutes. Looks to be good though.

        Thanks!

Good job. That looks like an Asus OEM board possibly.

Is it no harm to replace with capacitor without ripple current rating?
            by chth96
When I tried to repair LG 29 inch CRT TV, I found that the ESR value of samyoung SMS capacitor(160v 2.2uf), which is very close to D1879 transistor, is 6 ohm.

Judging from above ESR Meter Table,I think It is necessary to replace this sms capacitor. So I visited local electronics shop, and I purchased 160v 2.2uf rubycon YK capacitor.
But when I browse through rubycon YK datasheet,I found that there is no ripple current rating for 160v 2.2uf specification. But On the contrary, I found 39 mA ripple current rating for 160v 2.2uf SMS capacitor.
            Rubycon YK DataSheet (b...

            Cyberpower 1500AVR UPS repair
            by quickname
I'd like to start out by thanking this forum for providing the info to be able to repair my 15 year old CP1500AVRLCD UPS. Here is all the info I gathered during my trouble-shooting and re-capping.

Like clockwork, I've had to replace the SLA batteries every 4 years. It was about that time and the UPS was acting like it needed new batteries... randomly shutting off with AC present, not being able to charge fully, and poor runtime when AC was removed. So, I replaced the batteries but noticed that it was not charging properly.

I decided to verify that the batteries were...

My turn to post a build I guess, wasted way too much time on this one…
First proper SLI board I get so wanted to play around a little bit since I got a couple 8800 GTS.
Everything done with random parts I had lying around.

Apple 820-3662 VCore shorted to ground.
            by barry101
            Hi, Would appreciate some help.
I have an Apple Late 2013 15" A1398 MacBook Pro with Logic Board 820-3662.
Get charger light but no fan spin or chime. No liquid damage.
Found PPBUS and VCORE both shorted to ground. Other rails were ok.
Removed VCORE MOSFETS U7310, U7320 and U7330. Found U7330 was in fact shorted.
With the 3 MOSFETS removed, get PPBUS and fan spin. VCORE is still hard shorted to ground (0 ohms).
Attempted voltage insertion on VCORE to locate short using bench supply set at 1.0 VDC and 4.95 Amps (max current for my...

Help with replacing Capacitors on Altec Lansing ATP 3
            by yuzupatogik
            Hello,
I have this old (2004?) Altec Lansing ATP3 and i would like to replace the capacitors. I have identified 34 out of the 36 of them as Samxon GR of various capacities and voltages.

I can't find datasheets for the Samxon in any of the following variants:

10000uF 25 v - this one i really want to replace because i suspect it is what causes a dull hum regardless of the volume knob position or if the source is plugged in. I am eyeballing the Rubycon 25PK10000MEFCGC18X35.5 for this purpose. So if i pay a 10x the price part for shipping i might as well go ahead and...
