Replacing cap's did not solve LCD monitor issue

This is great site...lots of info.
I have two Planar PL 191M LCD monitors I bought new. They're about 7 yrs old and one just suddenly went black, green light still on. Switching power supplies did no good. I found a 3A fuse blown on the power supply board but no obvious "bad" caps or other suspect looking components. I replaced the fuse [same amp] and figured it would blow, but it did not. I now have a very momentary picture at start-up and if I turn it off, then on again. I went ahead and ordered all new caps and replaced them hoping that would be the fix but I have the same momentary picture. I'd really appreciate any help as I really like these monitors and I suspect the second monitor might do the same.
    Many Thanks

    See guide at

Start with section 4 and 5.

With 2 monitors, you should be able to narrow down the problem. Your working monitor can serve as the good/spare ccfl.

As for the new caps, what brand and series did you get?

HannStar Hanns-G HC194d LCD monitor repair
      by momaka
Normally, I never post repairs this quick after I do them, because… I am usually very slow. But today, I’m making an exception here. Why? No idea. Perhaps only because the repair details are still “fresh” in my head… which is ironic, given this is a 16 year old monitor that hardly anyone will care about today. It is new to me, though. I picked it up last November from someone on my local Craigslist. It wasn’t very close to where I live, but was close to a family friend that I had to go visit anyways. So after watching the posting on Craigslist for a few weeks and seeing it getting...

Replacement caps for Samson Resolv studio monitor 65A Amp board.
      by black6host
      Good day!

I have a Samson Resolv studio monitor that has no sound output. I've opened it up and found two caps that are bulging on what I believe to be the power supply section of the amplifier board. The board is marked Resolv 65A AMP V1.2. The caps in question are YUSCON, 2200uF, 35V, 85C temp and have markings of RA(P) and are 16mm x 25.5mm tall. I've attached the schematic and the caps in question are C5 and C6. I'm assuming they are low esr caps. I've tested both caps and they test low uF, nowhere near 2200uF.

I'm going to replace the caps and I'll be the first...

Replacing all the caps on the BenQ SW2700pt's power board didn't help...
      by Noodneek
My 3.5 years old monitor (BenQ SW2700pt) started to black out for 1-2 sec every minute or so, it was doing this even with PC disconnected from it. I searched online and read that it's probably aging capacitors and there's a workaround to lower the brightness.

I lowered it from 100 to 65% and it indeed helped, but after a couple of months the issue returned... I continued to lower the brightness, but it helped only for a couple of hours at most, then I needed to lower it further... Turning the monitor off and waiting for it to cool down also helped for a short time, after which it...

Seasonic B12 BC-550 – barely 2 years old and with BAD CAPS already!
      by momaka
I know I've been a little scarce lately (like the last 2-3 years), but I'm still here and still doing my thing with fixing PSUs.

For today's considerations, I have a Seasonic B12 BC-550 [A551bcafh] 550 Watt ATX power supply for you (click on links for full size images).

It's a modern ATX unit with fixed (non-modular) cables and an 80-plus bronze certificate. Here's the label:

Westinghouse L2210NW LCD monitor - bad caps repair
      by momaka
Here's another LCD monitor repair: Westinghouse L2210NW.
Quick specs: 22” CCFL backlit LCD, 1680x1050 max resolution (16:10 aspect ratio)

I got it with a bunch of desktops PCs from a repair shop that was trying to free up space a few years ago. It seemed like a cheap monitor, so I didn't really care that much at first when I picked it up (and indeed it is, picture-wise.) But hey, free is free, so I can't complain. Moreover, it looked clean and the screen didn't have any significant scratches or blemishes.

Pictures of the monitor outside/case after a brief...
