    Gigabyte GA-8IEXP (1.2) bad caps?

    Hi all,

    Forgive the n00b questions please!

I am wondering if the caps around the VRM on my 8IEXP are in need of replacing (pics attached)?

Have no idea about brands/sizes etc of current caps, was looking for a list when I ended up here.

Would it be a good idea to replace all the caps on the board at the same time?

I am thinking about learning how to replace the caps myself as I also have a Abit KT7A and a Shuttle SV25/FV25 here which will no doubt need doing as well sometime soon.

Failing this hoping to local someone local to me who can do the work for a reasonable price.

    Cool site btw.

yes indeed they are in need.

can you get some more pics when it is out of the case, blow away the dust so we can see the brands. nice camera btw. what is it?

can you read the brands and uf/voltage off all caps on your board that are 300uf and above. then we can tell you what to buy

we know of nobody offering recapping services in the uk but you will be able to get the right caps from RS or Farnell.

Well the board for now is working and the box that it's in is my local mail server that runs 24/7, I took it down this morning to clean the dust from the CPU heatsink and fans and noticed the caps.

As the caps are in need I will remove the board and see if I can get the values from the caps, just as soon as I can build a backup mail server. I know that this isn't something I can put off, not replacing the caps I mean.

The camera used is a Canon Powershot A300.

best to take it out of service before it finally fries something.

the board is stable like that? must have a good psu if so.

          Look at those pictures again.
I still say it's foot fungus getting in the caps.
