    For this capacitance and voltage...

Which of the two is a better pick? Both Nichicons, 22 uF, 25V, and I have the choice of either the KL or the VX. This is for mainboard use. Given the choice between those two nichicons, which (if either) is better than the mobo's stock Supacons? Or would the Samxon stocked by TopCat be better than either of those two? I'm trying to find the best caps of each specs that match the stock caps on the 'board, while still providing an improvement over the stock caps. The board's got good caps for all but a trio of high uF caps that are known defective Nichicons, and virtually ALL the smaller ones are crap caps.

I wouldn't recomment either of those two series. I don't think they're low ESR. If you insist on using nichicon, use a new HM, HD or HE series. This (https://www.badcaps.net/store/produc...roducts_id=102) also shlould be OK.
I love putting bad caps and flat batteries in fire and watching them explode!!

No wonder it doesn't work! You installed the jumper wires backwards

HannStar Hanns-G HC194d LCD monitor repair
          by momaka
Normally, I never post repairs this quick after I do them, because… I am usually very slow. But today, I’m making an exception here. Why? No idea. Perhaps only because the repair details are still “fresh” in my head… which is ironic, given this is a 16 year old monitor that hardly anyone will care about today. It is new to me, though. I picked it up last November from someone on my local Craigslist. It wasn’t very close to where I live, but was close to a family friend that I had to go visit anyways. So after watching the posting on Craigslist for a few weeks and seeing it getting...

Seasonic B12 BC-550 – barely 2 years old and with BAD CAPS already!
          by momaka
I know I've been a little scarce lately (like the last 2-3 years), but I'm still here and still doing my thing with fixing PSUs.

For today's considerations, I have a Seasonic B12 BC-550 [A551bcafh] 550 Watt ATX power supply for you (click on links for full size images).

It's a modern ATX unit with fixed (non-modular) cables and an 80-plus bronze certificate. Here's the label:

Dell Optiplex GX260 - Advice Needed for Polymodding Motherboard
          by SwedishDiesel
          Howdy folks,

I have an Optiplex GX260 that blew a couple of those troublesome Nichicon HM series (ultra low ESR) electrolytic capacitors. Because said caps are obsolete, they are pretty much impossible to find on the market; I did find a listing for some but I believe they are counterfeit. I feel the easiest thing to do would be to replace all the blown caps with polymer ones. I am by no means an expert in electronics, and I've found a fair bit of conflicting information, so any guidance or confirmation would be greatly appreciated. While from a practical standpoint it's not worth...

Operating caps well below rated voltage
          by Perry Babin
I think this has been answered but I couldn't find the thread.

Someone asked me if it would harm a capacitor (10F [not a typo], 24v) if it was operated on nothing more than 12v.

So, I ask... Does it change any of the capacitor's characteristics/parameters/? in any way if it is never operated near rated voltage?

If operated for years at 1/2 rated voltage, does it accept full rated voltage like it would if it had always been operated at the higher voltage?

          Or would it require reforming?

          Casing Power MPT-301 [PCB ATX9806b-p REV: A3]
          by momaka
This one should make @Pentium4 smile (if he is still reading BCN forums) – I got a new old stock / open box Casing Power MPT-301 PSU on eBay for $4 total.

Yes, it’s a very generic-looking box, but the manufacturer isn’t (at least not back in the days), which is…

          Macron Power Technology Co. LTD.

Let’s look at the PSU itself.

The shell/case also appears quite generic, like many “sold-with-the-PC-case” units. However, the shell is well-formed and has decent steel thickness. In terms of...
