    correct caps?

    I have a EP-8RDA3+ with drooping vdd. and i found a few bad caps.

    Ok the ones i found that are bad say 1500uf 6.3v and 1000uf 6.3v

    So are these the correct ones?

        those are both SMD (surface mount) you dont want that. you want radial lead.

          For the 1500's i searched 1500uf - Low Impedance - Radial And came up with this P10356-ND But its 63v ! also their was a 50V way to high no?

          For the 1000's i searched 1000uf - Low Impedance - Radial And came up with this
          Lowest one to highest. P5645A-ND - P10355-ND 35V - 63V .

          Also i'm searching under "Electrolytic" Is that correct?

              Whats the difference between Fm & FC? Also i dont understand why they didnt come up in the search?


              Are they "Low Impedance" I didnt see that in the description. Dont they have to be. I mean, which ever ones are the correct just tell me and i could really care less as long as its right and will work. Thanks for the help!

              EDIT: I just looked them up in the catalog and it says they are rated at 3000 hours? Thats less then a year?

                • Low impedance • Long life: 1000 ~ 5000 hours at +105°C

                FM series
                • Low Impedance: 40 ~ 70% lower than FC Series • High Ripple Current: 50%
                higher than FC Series • Long Life: 2000 ~ 7000 hours at 105°C

                i dont have availability of FM series in my area so i use FC only. I think you should buy FM, they are superior.

                the hours rating is when they are tested at 105oC. You most certainly will not be running them at that temperature. the lifetime increases for each degree less operating temperature.

                meaning your board will be so obsolete by the time these caps reach end of life. many years of good service

                    I just received my caps. The 1500UF's are shorter and fatter then the ones currently on my board. The problem i will have is i will not be able to mount 2 of them flush as the are right next to eachother. Is this ok?

                      you can bend the leads and then solder the caps in angled.
                      you can also bend the leads and solder the cap in lying down if you have to clear for a pci/agp card etc.

                      bushytails of this forum likes to put a dab of hot glue to hold the cap which is lying down, properly. i dont bother

                      there is no probs with those techniques, many here use them and totally stable boards.
