    MP6908GJ MP6908 Datasheet

The MP6908 MP6908GJ is a low-drop diode emulator IC that, when combined with an external switch, replaces Schottky diodes in high-efficiency flyback converters. The MP6908 regulates the forward drop of an external synchronous rectifier (SR) MOSFET to about 40mV, which switches off once the voltage becomes negative.

The MP6908 MP6908GJ can generate its own supply voltage for battery charging applications with potential low output voltage, and at short circuit output condition, or for high-side SR configuration. Programmable ringing detection circuitry prevents the MP6908 from turning on falsely at Vds oscillations during discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) and quasi-resonant operation.

    The MP6908 MP6908GJ is available in a space-saving TSOT23-6 package.

    Features

    ● Wide Output Range down to 0V, No Short Circuit Current Flows through Body Diode

    Asus X415EA not charging battery
    by johnbeton
    Hello,

I have an Asus X415EA board that is not charging the battery after some liquid damage. Everything else works, except charging the battery.
So far I measured all the pins on the bq24780s controller with the following result:

    1. ACN = 0.0V
    2. ACP = 19.02V
    3. CMSRC = 18.5V
    4. ACDRV = 23.9V
    5. ACOK = 5.9V
    6. ACDET = 2.57V
    7. IADP = 0.17V
    8. IDCHG = 0V
    9. PMON = ?
    10. PROCHOT = 5.05V
    11. SDA = 3.3V
    12. SCL = 3.3V
    13. CMPIN = 0.47V
    14. CMPOUT = 6.0V
    15. BATPRES = 0.0V

Raidmax RX-600 ringing noise and 0ms PG
    by Dannyx
Good day folks. A former workmate of mine scrounged up this PSU from a client of us. He had a look at it and found a seized up fan which is presumably the main cause of failure. A couple of caps had bulged on the secondary, so it seemed like an easy fix. He replaced them and today I had the honor of doing the test run with him. We attached an ATX tester to its output and plugged it in: it's not quite there yet. While the supply did technically fire up with no pops or fireworks, it's got a couple of issues. The most prominent one is this "ringing" or rather crackling sound it's making...

Seasonic B12 BC-550 – barely 2 years old and with BAD CAPS already!
    by momaka
I know I've been a little scarce lately (like the last 2-3 years), but I'm still here and still doing my thing with fixing PSUs.

For today's considerations, I have a Seasonic B12 BC-550 [A551bcafh] 550 Watt ATX power supply for you (click on links for full size images).

It's a modern ATX unit with fixed (non-modular) cables and an 80-plus bronze certificate. Here's the label:

    Asus P4C800-E VRM issues
    by c_corr
This board had the initial fault in VRM with high side Mosfet from PWM1 (phase 1) getting very hot. It also had the VRM caps quicly heating up in 10-15 seconds after power on.

This board uses mext ICs and Mosfets in VRM:
    - ADP3180 PWM controller - in 3 phase mode
    - ADP3418 as Modfet drivers
    - High side Mosfets STD38NH02L (from ST)
    - Low side Mosfets STD90NH02L

Some of the symptoms were very similar with the "Dead Asus P5P800-VM" in this forum.
I had the sawtooth voltage on Vcore too this was probably the cause of the Vcore caps...

Capacitor Diarrhea - Nichicon PL Series
    by DrewPhillips
Hello All, I have on the bench a couple of PSU's which have some failed Nichicon PL series caps. They didn't "puke" their guts through the top, but instead "diarrhea'ed" corrosive brown electrolyte through the bottom, down the legs and onto the board. On one cap, the electrolyte rotted the cap right off the board leaving 2 little stubs, and also corroded a trace on the foil side.

The PSU's are Power-One MAP series and are ringing-choke topology. The semiconductors have date codes in 1993. The PSU's were used in a commercial application, fan-cooled. They had failed...
