    Enermax Galaxy 1000W dead :(

    Hi all,

Any info regarding this type of unit that can aid me in the repair process?

    Any input is much appriciated.

The 5V std by is in "hick up" mode... but there is no short to ground.

An external 5V does not correct the problem, maybe it needs an external -12V also. I'm not sure what part of the unit generates the -12V.

How old is the unit? It might be viable if you claimed the warranty on it (providing it is still in warranty).... dunno if opening the PSU case like what you've done voids the warranty?

If the +5Vsb is squegging, then the auxiliary flyback controller is seeing a short somewhere. Since this also supplies the Vcc for the main PWM controller, it's possible that there's a short or a blown controller. Check all the caps on both the secondary and primary of the auxiliary flyback. Check the flyback rectifiers on both sides as well - they're sometimes rated for only 1A (FR107 or similar) on the secondary, when it would help to have a 2 or 3A rated rectifier there (the silkscreen will usually have space for a 3A rectifier).
