    Samsung PS43D450 Repair kits

Hi, trying to sort out a problem with the above TV.

As described in other threads here the Vs & Va voltages are being pulled low by the X-Main board.

I purchased a repair kit for the X-Main on fleaBay, installed it, the TV powered on, displayed the Samsung logo for a few seconds, then I think I heard some cracking and it has gone back to the original problem again.

Is it worth trying the repair kit again or should I replace the boards. I've seen here that it is recommended to just go for it and replace both the X-Main and Y-Main boards. However I can't source them as cheap as people say they should be this side of the Atlantic. Where is best?

    What's my best bet here?

    Thanks, Hab-Cat.

    Re: Samsung PS43D450 Repair kits

Just updating my own thread in the hope that somebody might please help me.

So I went ahead and purchased another kit below from a different supplier. This time the TV powered on good. I tuned in some terrestrial channels and it ran ok. Unfortunately I don't have a remote so it was difficult enough with the buttons on the front.

I was in the process of sussing out how to update the firmware when the TV picture stopped coming up. The menus still came up but not fully.
Finally the popping sounded again and I'm back to square one, not powering up.
The X-main is pulling down the power supply. The Y-main looks ok.

Is there any advice you can give me on this?
After two failed kits it's now getting very expensive.

    Thanks!

the kits are not entirely reliable.
Can you tell me what is included in the kit you have bought?

For a remote--Go to B &M's and get one of their 'Optimum' universal remotes--Costs about 3 quid.

Input code 1382 and it'll be fully operational for Samsungs....

How PLASMA SCREENS WORK, X-SUS and Y-SUS what they do--

Check C4024 for cracks / holes and R4021,22,30 and 31 my look ok but check them for value? and after the fitting the repair kit you must update the firmware or it will blow again in a short time hope this is of help Flocko

Yes was also going to ask, As much as components look OK doesn't mean they are, Did you test them?

Yea, they were two pairs of 50ohm resistors in parallel, reading 25ohm, so I assumed they were ok. Thought that layout was a bit strange alright but there are other components on the board clearly not in use so............

I'm pretty sure OP4004 should be included in the kit.
Trying to find the part number.

The OP4004 was included in the second kit I got, but I didn't list it above because it wasn't on my board. Sorry for any confusion.
It's listed on the parts list as an IGBT Gate Driver.

                        Re: Samsung PS43D450 Repair kits

Still trying to fix this one. Tried another repair kit for the X-Main. Worked ok again for a while before it bombed out again. The picture wasn't right, a bit grainey, but clear enough all the same.

Problem now is that at startup the Vs & Va voltages decay to zero. But this time they are not being pulled low by either the X-Main or the Y-Main boards. With neither connected they still decay. When they hit zero (after about 10 seconds), the TV volume comes on ok. Changing channels, based on sound only, also takes about 10 seconds.

There is no picture, bar perhaps a small glow at power on.

Any ideas, I've been at this one a while.
