    Help with replacement caps

    I have a PSU pulled from a Primeview monitor, model S1702D. It showed the usual symptoms of bad caps. It would just shut off randomly and more frequently until it finally wouldn't turn on at all.

    So I wasn't surprised when I opened it up and found 4 Evercon capacitors, two of them bulging. I'm still a noob when it comes to cross referencing these things for replacements. I can't find any info on these Evercons, so I need some help.

    Evercon caps are:

    LE
    10v
    1200 uf
    105° C
    E65A
    height 20 mm, width 10 mm

    and

    RE
    25v
    470 uf
    105° C
    E63A
    height 15 mm, width 10 mm

    please point me in the right direction

    re:

    evercon = gsc afaik...

    replace with capacitors that are of higher ripple, lower impedance ... making sure they fit in the room of the old caps... height can be higher.

    you're probably in us ... based on your patriot viper rams (afaik only sold in us) so check digikey.com , rs-components.com, mouser.com etc

      We respectfully ask that you make some time and effort to read some of the guides available for basic troubleshooting. After you have read through them, then ask clarification questions or report your findings.

        Yup.
        GSC = Evercon = Sacon
        .
        They were so bad they kept changing their name.
        They seem to be gone now but they might be hiding under a 4th name.

          Wow you guys are quick. hehe

          So am I safe to assume that the GSC datasheets can be used for these? I'll see what I can find and maybe you can tell me if I'm right, wrong, or even close.

          How about these http://search.digikey.com/us/en/prod...2388-ND/613749
          and these http://search.digikey.com/us/en/prod...2355-ND/613716

            Yes
            .
            Make sure the can size is the same.
            Sometimes they made sizes that aren't in the data sheet.
            'Within a Series' the ESR and Ripple change with the can size so if you run into that use the closest cap with the same sized can.
            .
            They are also unusually sloppy with their can sizes.
            I've seen the height vary as much as 4mm for the same size/series cap on the same board.
