Dynex DX-L42-10A Picture - Weird Colors

I read some of the same picture issues this TV was having & am pretty sure I need the tcon board repair kit (which is a chip with many connectors) Shopjimmy sells for $14.41

My question is... is this pretty easy to take out & install? Do I use a regular solder iron? Thank you

The first one I did i burnt the pads off.
I did mine with a hot air station.
Don't go over 600 deg. and use a lot of flux.
I have read (Chip Quik) works well.
When you solder the new one on watch
for bridges across the pins of the chip.
Search for AS15 and you will see some of
      peoples work.
      Good Luck.

I've used both ChipQuik and hot air to remove the AS15.
I attached the first pin, then an opposite corner, then carefully went along with my iron touching each leg.
I then checked continuity with my multimeter on adjacent pins.

You could also try to cut the pins with a small sharp knife. This way the chip will fall from the board Then with a small iron tip you can easily remove the rest of the pins on the board , works fine for me.
I only repair Panasonic plasma tv's! Currently owning a TX-P55VT50 and still searching for a ZT60!

I may try to install a new chip from Shopjimmy. This is something I haven't done before so I hope I don't butcher it...

Would someone like to install a new chip on the t-con board for me if I mailed it to you?

Re: Dynex DX-L42-10A Picture - Weird Colors

Just do it if all goes wrong just get another t-con.
Its good to learn. Practice on an old board.
Cut the pins like Moreno83 said and you should be good to go.
Just remember don't go over 600 deg.

Get this.... I read that cleaning the connectors & the tcon board connections sometimes will fix this issue. It did!!! The TV was totally caked with dust & I used my air compressor to clean the big clumps. I then used canned air on the connectors... 91% rubbing alcohol with a-tips on the connectors & connections & then blew dry with canned air. It's been working great for the past 3 hours.

Thanks everyone for all your help.... with the other TV's also.
