where might i find a switch like this ?

It is actually out of a large shop vac.
The slide switch is an off, low, high. After taking it apart a piece from the switch fell out and it was not quite working right lately.
    Info on the switch is
    13a ac. 125v
    .5a dc. 125v
    6.5 (H) 250v
    ... thanks for any help

It looks like it is made by 'CW' Industries. You may have to look here and see which one has the same dimension and same electrical spec.

Did contact the maker of the Vac cleaner?
Diode looks to be 6A series:

as for the switch when i browse the site i get this http://switches-connectors-custom.cw...chresults.aspx

the site was unable to complete load, thanks for the diode info.
I am looking for the whole switch though. From what i found in a slide switch so far does not show a diode. Could newer switch not have them ?

Re: where might i find a switch like this ?

you will notice metal rings that clamp the diode to the switch, it is an add on.
AC power (what the vacuum runs off of) has a wave formation, it cycles 120 times per second (120v) now what the diode does is chop that wave in half, making half wave AC thus lowering the speed of the motor. if you dont use the low setting you can use a switch that only has an on and off position too.
