by CapacitorialHello!
I learned a lot the last weeks about repairing and how power supplies are structured. Fixed two TVs (even though it wasnt really hard since one was a backlight and the other a ribbon tape trick fix).
Let's say I got a basis of knowledge from where I can start to repair easy projects.
Looking on local online markets, there are sometimes faulty devices for free. But where to start?
I try to stay away from notebooks and mobile devices. I don't believe I got the experience, even though it feels like I could do something, after watching hours of notebook... -

by dicky96Hi guys
I've been getting more air con controller boards of various brands for repair - mainly the ones from the outdoor compressor unit and I realise I have a lot of gaps in my specific knowledge, while being pretty good at electronic repair in general.
Does anyone know of any good resources for information on this sort of repair? I'm hoping here there will be some guys who are experienced in this. I'd specifically like more info on how the controller PCB works, because I expect they are all pretty much the same, and especially how it communicates with the indoor unit (protocols,... -
by acidcoolxxxHi Folks,
I need help troubleshooting a BIOS repair - did I make a mistake?
**What happened:**
My laptop suddenly stopped starting. The caps lock LED blinked 3 times long, then 2 times short. After a while, it worked again. The next day, it wouldn't start at all, and now I'm getting 5 long blinks followed by 3 short blinks.
**What I've tried:**
- Ordered a new BIOS chip
- Dumped the old BIOS and flashed it back
- same error persists
- Examined the BIOS in UEFITool and found invalid entries - the BIOS appears to be corrupted...-

by WutruHi guys,
If someone would be able to provide some expertise, I'd be very grateful.
BIOS Corruption - Cause
So I managed to corrupt my machine by installing linux and enrolling custom secure boot keys. I did choose to enroll the Microsoft keys as well, to prevent any potential bricking due to 3rd party drivers from HP being signed with those keys.
After doing that, and rebooting(it did boot, powerLED, fanspin etc.), the laptop did not give any video output on the LCD or video connectors. I think I was able to get in BIOS and trigger the beeper by pressing ESC....-
