Battery not charging ideapad 3-15ITL6 after shortage repair

    Hello guys,

I have this laptop coming for not starting at al.
There was a shortage on a condo on B+ circuit near PJ100. (please find shematic attached) Link to schematic --> https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...08#post1754008

    Problem solved by removing it.

But now the laptop is not charging... It's working on battery and/or without charger perfectly.
The led charge is orange on the laptop like it's charging but it's taking not power at all on my power supply.

Tested with two battery, one is brand new and coming from lenovo.
high & low mofeset and batfet looks good in all way >50kOhm.
I repalace the charge chip with no more luck.

    Review the 2 x DCin mosfets @ PQ5400 / PQ5401 again. Remove all power.

Measure the resistance of each mosfet:

    source (1-2-3) & drain (5-6-7-8)
    source (1-2-3) & gate (4)
    gate (4) & drain (5-6-7-8)

Start with PQ5401 = 2nd DCin mosfet. Post each measurement. Each measurement should be hundreds of k ohms or higher for the resistance.

Are the with battery only measurements correct? The Vcc pin cannot be 19v with only the battery.

sorry miss this one VCC= 0v.

Did you make sure PQ5401 and PQ5400 are good ?

Review PD302 - dual diode. The charger IC should be powered by the battery or the power adapter - whichever power source is higher. It should not be at 0 volts with only the battery unless the battery has 0V charge on it. Confirm this detail.

Test this dual diode using no power; meter in diode mode.

Test with red lead on anode (back of arrowhead); black lead on common cathode junction - should conduct. Reverse the leads and the diode should block.

Test with the other diode in this dual diode package.

              7.31V with battery only.
Yes i retested this diode L243 0.293 in diode mode from anode to cathode both side (vin and batt+) and OL from anode to cathode.

Sorry i don't get what you mean here : "Test with the other diode in this dual diode package."

              Thanks.

Ok - you have tested the dual diodes correctly. So they are not leaky. Post a picture of the battery connector with the battery attached.

Confirm that the charger pins BATSRC (17) and BATDRV (18) are not shorted in the reworked replacement part. They have the same voltage measurement.

Why do people never read https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...arging-circuit , of course it's gonna be a shorted DC-in MOSFET as usual…

Sorry sorry sorry i was in a hurry yesterday (like always) and i mess with BATDRV: 13.29V without charger. (and 7.48 with charger)

So i check again today all voltage without charger:

piernov I read twice the sticky yersteday and i checked my mofset, that all seems good, should i change them just to be sure?

Sorry again for thoses errors and thank you.

                          Review the 2 x DCin mosfets @ PQ5400 / PQ5401 again. Remove all power.

Measure the resistance of each mosfet:

                          source (1-2-3) & drain (5-6-7-8)
                          source (1-2-3) & gate (4)
                          gate (4) & drain (5-6-7-8)

Start with PQ5401 = 2nd DCin mosfet. Post each measurement. Each measurement should be hundreds of k ohms or higher for the resistance.

                            okkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk !
I only check battery mofsets, i can't image the problem come from dc mofsets......
And actually first mofset is bad ! Bravo ! <3 Ohms

So thank you again i'll check it with new mofset.
I have so much to learn. 😏
