HI, I came here after looking for a way to fix my bios password locked laptop. This is my first time trying it outComment

For the record, my first system was back in 1985, being a Commodore-64 with the kick-ass 1541 5.25 floppy drive set up on an ancient 19" tube-type color TV... Now that was the kitty cat's meow back then!! DOS nothin!! That system had 64k RAM, runnin BASIC!!
Didn't cut my teeth on a DOS-based machine till 1988, that was a Tandy EX-1000...
WOOHOO!! My first homebuilt was back in 1994, being a Pentium 90 (overclocked to 100) with 64MB RAM and a 170MB EIDE HDD, a 4x Mitsumi CD drive, a Hercules 1MB video card, and an SB16... YEAH BABY!!

Hey folks!
Just wanted to say hi as a new member of the Badcaps community. I'm based in London and I’ve always enjoyed tinkering with tech - fixing up desktops, laptops, testing parts, and seeing what can be revived instead of thrown away. Recently I’ve been spending more time working on old ThinkPad and ASUS laptops I’ve picked up from eBay as damaged or faulty.
I found this site while searching for info about BIOS reflashing, and I have to say — this place is a goldmine of knowledge. I’m hoping to learn more about diagnostics, BIOS flashing, and general component troubleshooting, and also share anything useful I pick up along the way.
Looking forward to chatting with you all, learning from the experts here, and keeping some good old hardware alive to save the planet! 🤘🤘🤘
Cheers,
Genghis_Khan

Hi from Mike
Hey everyone, I'm Mike from Budapest, Hungary, and I've been working in automotive engineering for about 12 years now. Most of my time has been spent on the electrical systems and battery integration side, though I've dabbled in mechanical design when projects demanded it. I can read a wiring diagram like it's my morning newspaper, but hand me a timing belt and let's just say I'm better at specifying components than actually wrenching on them!
Not entirely sure if finding this forum is good news or bad news for my free time, but here we are. I'm currently wrestling with some controller communication issues on a prototype vehicle – keeps throwing intermittent CAN bus errors that I can't seem to pin down. Thought it was the wiring harness at first, replaced a bunch of connectors, problem seemed to vanish... until we started running full system tests, and now the gremlins are back.
Are there any threads around with recommended diagnostic tools or known-good controller setups that don't have these communication stability issues? I've been searching but haven't found much specific to my configuration yet.
Ideally I need something that can handle multiple CAN channels simultaneously (we're running 3 separate buses) and won't cost me my firstborn in the process.
Welcome any advice or war stories from those who've been down this road before!
