Hello my name is SonofSuicide bit edgy but i have had it for years now people in Games just call me SonS. I'm a Gamer and pc Enthusiast. love learning about programming and hardware just got a CH431A programmer and am looking to learn about it by fixing a laptop with a corrupted bios.

Hey,
my name is Thomas, old school PC enthusiast, overclocker and mostly retired gamer
Learned electronics at school(s) but not used it for any repairing purposes.
As kids grew up, decided to give it a try to make it my hobby.
Hoping to learn with and from You.Comment

Ok, well, in this day and age of AI and bot slop, this is refreshing. Though with currently 2,430 posts, I think only AI could parse that, and even then, too much for a human to consume, but it is a good reference if someone were to look up the into to a user from some other posts, which is cool.
I am a DevOps engineer, love automating everything, currently engineering AI tech for a tech company, in ways that does not enshitten the internet and humanities knowledge base, but more helps people get to the existing human generated information that already exists. I work with data scientists, developers, and other DevOps teams. I have always loved technology, and how I can make it do the work of a billion people, but work that I would never inflict on actual humans, that is where I am cool with automating work away. Do you like digging fence posts? How about digging them and filling them back in? That is the kind of stuff I am motivated to automate away.
Anyway, I got a family, and I provide the tech, which includes diy built systems, and they break, or get components fried or scraped off. I think it would be dumb to toss a modern motherboard just because a resistor got scraped off, so here I am. I am hoping to find the right schematic so I can see if the motherboard can live without 1 of 3 60B SMDs in series likely scratched off by the backplate of a PCI-E card install or removal. It could be related to a functionality that is not needed or critical, or it could fry anything I plug into it and power on. If I could find a replacement, I could likely pop in on the board, but if I don't need to, then screw it, I don't mind leaving something dark that doesn't matter. I am sure many others are here for similar reasons, so hello, and I wish you all the best in your repair endeavors.Comment

Hi everyone,
My name is Kali, I’m 38 years old and I’ve recently started diving into the world of motherboard repair. I’m passionate about electronics and always eager to learn new things.
At the moment, I’m mostly focusing on laptops — diagnosing, soldering, and gradually understanding how all the components work together.
I joined this forum to learn from more experienced members, share my progress, and hopefully help others as I grow.
Looking forward to exchanging knowledge with all of you!Comment

During my childhood, my dad gave me an old computer, which I upgraded to Windows XP. That was my first hands-on experience with technology—I learned the basics of programming and how systems work. Later, I got a laptop running Windows 8, one of the most disliked operating systems at the time, but I used it to continue exploring computers and software.
I've always been passionate about understanding how things work—whether it's fixing cars or troubleshooting computers. I enjoy solving problems in the most effective and affordable way, and I’m constantly learning new skills to do so.
Currently, I work in the mines, handling ventilation systems and water supply. However, I recently graduated as an Automation Technician, and I’m now applying for a role in automation at the mine.
In my spare time, I work on personal tech projects. I often program in C, C++, and Python, and I enjoy creating things using Arduino. For example, I recently worked on a Speeduino project to integrate an electronic throttle body with the main board.
I also like to build logging and monitoring systems using Grafana, combining it with data from sensors or Arduino projects to visualize performance or detect issues in real time.
I’m excited to bring my technical skills, creativity, and hands-on experience into a more automation-focused role.Comment

Hi,
I'm an electronics engineer and work in automation.
I've used this site in the past to diagnose and repair some devices.
I recently fixed an mis monitor that had an issue where it got stuck on factory mode and decided to share how to fix it for this specific model so I finally ended up registering properly and doing the introduction.
Honestly I'm more of a lurker than a poster XDComment

i have been lured in by the delicious scent of schematics, and then ensnared by the allure of a good ol' forum; didn't even realise how much i missed these :þ
but yeah, for introductions, i'm a professional unemployed, and repair and build various electronical contraptions in my spare time; largely focusing on IoT hackery and 3D printer parts recently. i do also make occasional detours into the land of computer hardware and programming (Kotlin and TS my beloved), which was in fact what got me started in this direction when i was still but a child. really i will work on anything adequately interesting though, from power supplies to smartphones
probably will end up more a lurker than anything, but, hey, you never know
