I am an italian engineer living here... so far.
I design and build mobile laboratories for different types of utilities.
I have the hobby of repairing things from the cheap toys to the expensive equipment. Sometimes hobby and work are the same.

I am happy to be here, I am sure I will find some answers to my questions and maybe I will also be able to give some answers myself over time.

Hi all,

Good website on a subject that earned good money for me some years ago.

Bio: Chose electronics as a career after testing an empty light socket at age 12 with a finger.

Military service of 8 years; 3 US Army, 5 in USAF.
Trained and worked as a radar and radio maintenance tech.

7 years at IBM, Germany in an electronics analysis lab.

Came back in 1974 to the US worked as a calibration specialist in two companies in CA, then changed to sales, rental and leasing finally buying a company doing that plus operating a calibration lab, which was sold after 9 years.

Last opened a one-man shop servicing office equipment of all kind of gear, closed after 9 years with an unblemished reputation because China started selling gear cheaper than I could repair it.

Retired and fled from California in 2003 to West Virginia and now do only occasional work for friends and, of course, maintain my own junk.

Hi guys,

i'm Boerge from Germany - IT-Technican since 16 years, specialized in Laptop-repairs and data recovery. I'm member of this site for 3 (or more?) years, but now i tried to start a new thread and therefor i wan't to say "hello". I'm not the best english speaker, so my posts will be rare...but many thanks for this great forum and the support - especially sharing the resources.

Hi all.

Came across this forum looking for additional pictures while repairing my Samsung 2493HM, which I think I found, but only just now registered and thought I'd drop a note before going back to lurking.

I have a replacement capacitor set from LCDalternatives that I'm going to work on today. Monitor was blanking with a pop for the last year and I was able to keep it alive by turning it fully off via the difficult-to-reach power switch when not in use. Well, yesterday it finally decided to just stay blank no matter what. Luckily it was black friday and I just ordered a new 34" curved samsung which will be here Thursday. While I'm waiting, I thought I'd tackle the bad monitor.
