Hi Guys, reside in the National Capital of Australia and have retired from a career in mainframe computer engineering. I have joined this network because it seems to cover most of my hobbies although I haven't found much on Valves and Uniselectors. Loves are old cars, old radio's and records. Regards Ron

            Hi all,

So where to start - a very long time ago I did a 3 year RAF aircraft electronics apprenticeship specialising in radio and radar and subsequently worked on Jaguar, Vulcan and Tornado aircraft (that'll give those in the know a good idea of how long ago). Since I left the service I've worked in a variety of hardware and software related roles and currently work as a technical bid leader in the aerospace division of a major global industrial conglomerate that also makes lightbulbs I've always been interested in computers and home electronic equipment and came across your forum when researching a problem relating to my surround sound system. I still haven't fixed it but I'm working on it

            Regards, MSJ

Hi, there. Had some trouble with a Samsung 32" and registered on this forum to search for some clues. I solved the problem in the meanwhile. So this post is to gain unrestricted access to post a 'heads-up / solution' thread.

Hi all. I'm getting back into computers and component level repair after a long absence. I owned a residential construction company for 25+ years, so I didn't have the time or patience to do repairs myself. Now I have 4 computers on my desk, in various states of...Uh...Mostly working

Hi. Found the forum when searching about fixing my finlux/ vestel tv. I am going to post in the troubleshooting forum when im allowed and decide whether it is worth trying to fix myself. The tv cost me £280, 3.5 years ago, I haven't done this sort of thing before so wondering if it is even worth it.
Great forum and information, if i had a more expensive TV to fix I would definitely stick at it but will see what responses/ advice I get.

Hello everyone, I am a Hobby electronics nut and I am attracted to this forum because of the wealth of knowledge it contains. My first computer was a Sinclair with a tv for a monitor. My next computer was a Commodore 64 then an IBM AT and I built my first computer in the late 80's. I have had many jobs over my lifetime, electrician, electrical designer, truck driver, construction, pumped gas and worked in the parts department at 3 car dealerships. I guess I am a well rounded handyman, I have done concrete work, woodworking, plumbing, auto repair among other things. I love my motorcycle, I like fishing, camping and have taken first place at an art show with an oil painting. I am really looking forward to participating in this forum, Thank you for allowing me to join this awesome group!

Hi I'm Barry from Oxfordshire in the UK

I am an oldie at 67.
Apprenticeship with BT in Radio & Electronics back in 1966!! when valves were king and these new fangled transistor things were breaking into the scene
Designed & built my Z80 microprocessor PC from components in the 80's inc writing the "operating system" (Cassette based storage) had great fun. Was with BT in training for many years then repairing computer tape drives also for many years and now I repair Switched mode PSU's for LED lighting systems.

Hope to learn lots about various amplifiers which is how I found this forum looking for info on the VOX mini3.

Unlikely, but if I can help in any way please ask, I am all in favor of sharing knowledge.

                                        Cheers,
                                        Barry

AudioEd - Here to explore and mingle with the natives.

Newbie to forums but this looks like my kind of place. I've been in audio/recording/sound systems since the 1960's. Fixing and re-purposing old equipment is a hobby I enjoy - especially tube R2Rs and Amps. I still own Ampex, McIntosh and Dynaco equipment as well as MCI and Crown. Architectural acoustic measurement and taming reverberant spaces is a trade I have worked for over twenty years.

A single Google search landed me here so this is is to see if I have landed in a galaxy worth hanging around and meeting interesting natives. Oh yeah, I wire-wrapped a 6502 system and cloned an Apple II just about the time they changed from audio cassette to floppy disk drives and still work on computer integration today for an aerospace company.

Enough - Now I'm off to explore >> AudioEd
