Hello, My name is Jamie Sikora. I have worked with electronics for a little over 20 years. Never really started doing much board level work till a couple years ago. Still learning every day. Hope to find some good info on here. I have been having some trouble trying to figure out how to test capacitors, resistors and so on. Just going to start reading and trying to learn more.

Hello everyone. I am Cheryl from Western New York. I have been scrapping ewaste for the past year and was directed to this site from another forum I frequent.

I have some background in electronics. Never really got as far as troubleshooting circuit boards though. I worked in electronic security for many years. Mostly I would troubleshoot down to the component level only.

Anyhow, I keep getting flat screen tvs and thought it would be worth my while to repair some of them as a way to earn a few extra dollars from my scrapping endeavors.
                            Very happy to be here

A search on google regarding problems with lcd led backlighting has brought me to this and a couple of other forums, both of which seem quite helpful in trying to identify problems with these sort of things. Hopefully the info i've gleaned from here is enough to be able to do the one of repairs i need, so a pre-emptive thankyou for that.

Hey, I came about this site by researching why one of the FETs on my macbook motherboard failed. I can't afford a new laptop and this one has been good to me for 7 years and other than the fact it doesn't currently work, it was a great platform for my coding and developing projects and I miss it dearly .

I've done a lot of tinkering with other electronics and was just starting up my own website (solderandflux.com) when my laptop died.

Re: New Member, won't bother you much

I'm an old dumb--s with lots of little and big kids hanging around the house. Don't know anything about electronics but we live in that world now.

By luck and stubbornness been able to repair a few devices and appliances.
Wondered why they fail so much more often than in the past. Now I know, at least part of, the reason. Just by lurking in this site, I re-animated a cheap LCD television that cost more than I can afford to replace. Thanks.

Hi, I am new to self help electronics. I am determined to fix my broken television and not take it to a local repair shop. I am usually pretty good at figuring things out but not TVs. I am kinda a control freak and a self confessed "no it all" so you can imagine my frustration at not being able to figure out where the 5V standby is to test it as suggested in the troubleshooting posts. Every time I google a question it takes me to this site so I figured it must be good so here I am.

Hi, I have dabbled in electronics for many years and while I understand some of the basics of the systems and the various components, my knowledge of circuits and systems is still very limited. I find electronics very interesting and it is somewhat a pet hobby. Over the years, I have been able to repair many of my own various electrical items. In this instance, I have an item that is beyond the scope of my knowledge. Google search results kept bringing up posts from here. Glad I found this forum. There is a wealth of knowledge and very helpful individuals. Looking forward to learning and meeting some new friends here.
