  • Yet another reply to say thankyou for the info that led me to fix a U3011. I bought it off FB Marketplace based on the symptoms the seller described & everything that was described in here.
Like many others, the root cause was a failed TOP266VG causing the 5v rail to drop to 0.1v or less and the 24v rail to drop to 6v after running for a handful of minutes and overheating itself to oblivion.
For future reference for anyone trying to fix one of these, I used a thermal imaging camera to track the failure location and quickly identified the TOP266VG as the culprit.
    When the...

  • I'm sorry, I didn't get around to downloading the rom quickly enough as I've been called into work unexpectedly, three days in a row and couldn't get to it quickly enough.
edit: that's weird. When I logged in from home, it showed the file as removed, and now at work, it's back.

    I've downloaded it anyway, thankyou..

  • Bios unlock assistance request with Asus Vivobook Y4200D

    Manufacturer: Asustek
    Model: Y4200DA3500-0D8SXFAJX10
    CMITID: 2019AJ2497
    Manufacture date: 2019-11 12M
Other SN i'm unsure of: 15105-06839000
There are other serial numbers on the board, but I don't think they really and no the X509DL motherboard doesn't have built in ethernet and I don't believe that it has Bluetooth built in,

This laptop is locked with the boot bios and I've kind of run out of momentum in trying to figure this out myself. The ctrl-r backup password didn't work and using the manufacture date
on the sticker and every other code within...

  • Re: Shuttle K45 recap

I'll be honest, I have replaced all the elecrolytics on my k45 (using low esr caps of the same value), and never had this level of problem with my board.

Then again this is a slight threadsurrection.

  • Pepper pad 3 - Identifying SMD components

Firstly thankyou for the large repository of information I've found so far, it has been extremely useful with some other things I've been trying to do.

I picked up a pepperpad 3 and I want to take a shot at repairing it before i consign it to the bin (or ebay). I purchased it without a battery or accessories and it is able to fire up the LCD panel as well as start the bios screen, but going into a boot loop.

Anyway when I took it right apart I found a couple of couple of smoked components and I was hoping to get a helping hand with identifying what these components...

  • Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

A search on google regarding problems with lcd led backlighting has brought me to this and a couple of other forums, both of which seem quite helpful in trying to identify problems with these sort of things. Hopefully the info i've gleaned from here is enough to be able to do the one of repairs i need, so a pre-emptive thankyou for that.
