            Hi!

Recently started looking to gain a deeper understanding of hardware and computer functioning.
Came across here after messing my BIOS up and looking to solve it

Hey there. I'm not an "electronics guy", but I'm here trying to find out how to use my BIOS dump and a Dell BIOS update to create a firmware image that I can trust is clean. I already used a CH341A Mini Programmer hardware and AsProgrammer software to read and back up my old 16 MB firmware image. I've also used UEFITool, by platomav at GitHub, to extract the files from the Dell BIOS update .exe file. My next step is to find out if my Flash Descriptor region is clean, and to transfer any legitimate machine-specific data from specific regions of my old firmware to the equivalent regions extracted from the update .exe. Then, I need to concatenate all the clean regions into a full, clean 16 MB firmware image to flash my SPI chip with. I still need to replace my 5V CH341A Mini Programmer with a newer one that has a voltage switch for the 3.3V setting I need to safely read and flash my chip again. So that's where I'm at, and what my plan is.
