    Olá, pessoal! A paz a todos! 🙏

    Forte abraço!

Hi, nice to meet you all!

I created an account here because this forum has been very helpful in me fixing my Macbook Air M2 which just randomly died. I opened it up, found a bad capacitor and removed it, and the mac now works! Saved myself a huge repair bill.

I might have some follow up questions though, because I accidentally scratched the board in one place xD

                        Hello everyone,
I work on computers with my hubby in North Idaho, and I'm after a schematic for a ThinkCentre board a customer spilled hot cocoa across. :P

                        Peace,
                        Casey

Hey everyone, glad to be here.

I've been into computers for as long as I can remember. What started with tinkering on old hand-me-down desktops eventually turned into a full-blown passion for custom builds and performance tuning.

These days, my main rig runs a Ryzen 9 7950X paired with an RTX 4080, mostly for gaming, multitasking, and some light creative work. I've shifted toward quieter builds lately — using Noctua fans, a Fractal Design case, and a fully modular PSU to keep things clean and silent.

For work, I rely on a Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 11 — lightweight, powerful, and built like a tank. I also keep a Steam Deck OLED for gaming on the go and some light Linux experimentation.

I've learned (sometimes the hard way) that specs are just one part of the experience — proper airflow, cable management, and component synergy matter just as much.

Looking forward to exchanging tips, builds, and experiences with the community. Let's geek out!

Well, how are you doing? I'm a computer technician. I'm not an electronics technician, per se. But I learn and study everything I can about electronics to try to fix the more complicated issues in my clients' computers. I know the basics of electronics and, little by little, I'm learning the more sophisticated stuff. Reading data sheets, is a pleasure!

first I want to mention my old computer junk hanging out somewhere in the house. My first computer was a Philips P2000. This was a robust reliable machine and my exemplar was a limited edition with 512 Kb memory (64 was standard). I tried some assembler programming and that was YUK! I agree 100% with Topcat if it is about machine code or 3GL programming languages. My second computer was a Philips MSX-II. Played with Turbo Pascal, Basic, but still YUK… Switched from XT to Pentium 60 MHz, PIII 500 MHz and my actual computer a HP Pavilion t370. This computer is the only one so far that broke down (4 months), so I ended up here!
Programming was YUK, I found computers boring, so I got a Masters Degree in Biochemistry/Molecular Biology, but no (paid) work available in Europe. I work nowadays as Oracle Software Engineer and that is NOT YUK! I enjoy my work as long I have regularly contact with customers and 4GL Case Tools are much nicer than 3GL tools
