Hi. New member here. I am starting to get more into computers again after being deep out of that side of tech since the turn of the century. (I can't believe it's been 25 years already.) I used to do programming and went a different career direction for a while as a Diesel technician and an industrial electrician. I've been out of work for a bit after having a foot reconstruction surgery, so money is pretty tight for me and my family. I am trying to repair my Dell Precision M6700 CAD laptop that quit working. I'm learning how to use the CH314a programmer to check and maybe fix the BIOS on my CAD computer. Thanks for being here as a resource.

Being retired, I feel at your forum here as several people indicated that they are familiar with some the earliest personal computers. I also started off using a Commodore in the middle 80's and by 1989 became quite an expert in DOS and spreadsheets like Lotus and Supercalc. My greatest achievement those days were when I was, after much research being able to add a second floppy drive to my computer to not have to exchange the OS floppy with the application floppy every time I had to do something different.

Those days I was already fixing everyone's radios, tv's and VCR's and a keen RC enthusiast. It turned out that I studied a B.Com degree and became an accountant and later Internal auditor, but still with my keen interest in electronics and computers overall. I became a hobbiest-self-taught electronics enthusiast and educated myself as properly as could in electronics to satisfy my craving to learn and build/create things. After working for 40 years and ending off in a management position being IT auditor, I could not wait to retire to be able to spend all my time on my hobbies.

So yes, now I fix (or at least I try my best to fix) all friend's and family's broken electronics stuff, while flying my drones, 3D prints what I need, working on the cars when necessary (I do my own servicing and replacing of wear-items), doing the garden and house chores (to keep the wife happy) while building my newest project, an underwater drone with all the bells and whistles - and I almost forgot to say, being the amateur PC and laptop go-to person for everyone I know. I don't charge anyone for anything I do. I only charge for parts that I need to buy or import - but if I have it somewhere in my stash it will be for free. The odd bottle whiskey, brandy or biltong here and there is obviously well received! I would rate myself as quite knowledgeable in electronics and try my best to learn as much of the inner workings of every item as I can, but sometimes when I listen to or read some detail of what a real electronics engineer explains, I realise that I am still just a low-level amateur! But I am happy with that as I had my innings, and now I am still just tinkering. Looking at the success rate I have, I must do something right - or maybe it is as Gary Player said, "the more I practise, the luckier I get".

Greetings to all of the forum!
My name is Alessio I'm new in this forum, I live in Italy and I found the forum thanks to an Italian youtube user who shows how to unlock the bios of a zbook laptop with the use of the software RCUnlocker that is on the forum. I am a computer science graduate, I like watching videos related to computers and also I like hacking but I'm not good at it. I will take a longer look at the forum and I wanted to thank those who carry out this project.

Hello to the Group, looking for alternatives to unlock BIOS on a GETAC S400 (not S400G2), tried to disassembly it, to get access to the BIOS battery, but no luck removing the keyboard, if somebody is familiar with this model (P/N 242830700003) and can recommend some ways around to get access to anything besides the blue BIOS unlock prompt screen, again this is the gen1 (or gen0) of the GETAC S400, label with S/N is not legible at all, thank you again.
