I repair consumer electronics in a small business supporting a popular brand. I joined a motherboard repair team that had 5 years experience. Upon 4 months of fixing mostly Playstations and XBox's, the whole team quit due to issues with the owner. I now carry the weight of the team myself and I must learn quickly to make my lonely department worth keeping. I am Left Over.

My name ist dirk_f, I used to work as a technician for a telephone company, I became an computer enthusiast an love the tinkering around them. Since my financial resources are quite limited, I try to repair broken notebooks (mainly lenovo) for my personal use only, occasionally repairing them for friends... I started in the early days of computing at work (PCs and servers) starting with MSDOS, later windows 2,0, NT5 , W95 ... until now to win10. Win 11 ist not yet present in my home, but I come in touch with Win11 at work and my friends computers.
My first own computer was a decommissioned pc from work, I accuired at the age of 36 in the year of 2001 running on WIN-XP... after that time I bought decommissioned mobile lenovo pc's in order to upgrade and fix them for my use and giving the old ones to my children and so on...
Since the requirements for Win11 are updated, I was forced to upgrade my mobile computers in my home for myself and my family members to 8th gen intel with TPM2.0.
Just recently I found a couple of 8th gen intel based lenovo T490 and L480/L490 for parts to bring them back to life for my home.
I still own two lenovo T400, one T440, T460 and an L470. I am about to scrap the T400's (both have Win10) as soon as I get the L470 and the T460 fixed.
The T460 I found on the local second hand market place, it was intended as a donor for the LCD screen to put into the T440 (has a white stripe aprox. a quarter of an inch in width in the middle of the screen reaching from the top to the bottom).
The L470 needs a new power button daughter board and a resolder job on the mainboard to refasten the socket, which connects the mainboard with the daugter board. The L470 ist on Win10, plans are to switch to linux, since the hardware is to good for scrap. I'm trying to find adequate alternative linux based programs for my windows apps, which is a quite time consuming task in my very busy life with my job and family.
The T460 has a video output problem - no picture on screen nor on the hdmi/DP- ports, I need to find the time to disassemble the mainboard in order to find and fix the problem. The LCD including the top cover where successfully transplanted into the T440, giving one of my young ones a linux based office and internet pc for school and local printing.
The L480 and T/L490 are intended for the immediate use as a windows10/11 pc, I have 2 of them in service, already replacing the t440 and L470 as a windows machine for my daily use.. the L470 was used together with a dockingstation, which makes it possible to switch on/off the L470 through the power button on the dock. The power button issue was the reason why the seller offered machine 3 years ago and I bought it like this, thinking it was just little effort to repair after reading through forums...This is the only way I get to power on the L470 in stationary mode limiting the machine in its use for mobile work... disassembling the mainboard is quite time consuming and the time to rework the soldering on the socket for the connection of the daughter board. The spare part for the power button is ready to be installed. The downtime for the L470 is not so critical any more, since its job was taken over in march 2025 by the lenovo L480 ...I just placed the ssd from the L470 into the L480 and started the machine ...everything worked immediately without any problems..
The L490 ist on the way, awaiting delivery, according to the seller, it should be needing RAM, disk storage with mounting bracket and cable and a power brick... The mounting bracket with the cable were ordered via aliexpress, but the order got stuck on the way through customs, so I need to bring up a case for refund....and reorder the parts and wait another 4-6 weeks for delivery.....

I discovered this forum through a link searching for schematics for my lenovo T460.

Hi there, i'm Marcurios, newbie on the forum..

Recently picked up repairing old Amplifiers again after a long hiatus.
So i scored a bunch of vintage amps for just about nothing.
And one in particulair gave me trouble since i can't find a schematic for it and wanted to verify some components.

So after googling a bit i found that someone in here has a old amp like that, which seems to be a very rare one, a Taiwanese Tele-Master AS-20.
So that mede me decide to join your club, and maybe who knows, we can help eachother out in the future !

                                  Cheers !

                                  Marcurios.
