I'm a student passionate about modifying laptops and exploring their undocumented features. I'm interested in both hardware and software, always looking for ways to enhance and optimize devices beyond their factory limitations.

My first system was back in 1999—a Pentium III with 256MB of SDRAM. That experience sparked my curiosity about technology and pushed me to dive deeper into how things work. Since then, I've been constantly learning, experimenting, and finding new ways to improve devices.

Production Engineer irl and hate how right to fix (or diy) is literally almost gone.
Follow up with tech and have a basic solder can do odd flashing to bios etc.

Hello everyone, this place seems really nice!

So, about me:
English is not my first language, but i try to keep my spelling/grammar mistakes to a minimum

I have learned to love tinkering from my grandfather. Now I pretty much have taken apart almost everything that has some connection to electricity or mechanics at home. From taking apart an automated air refresher (and failing to fix it) to replacing a bunch of outlets and light swithes at home. Also I replaced our TV backlight LEDs, that was my first time messing around with something expensive. For the most part i try to fix everything that has a low cost like my younger sisters wind-up toys or already burned LED bulbs. I figure if the cost is low than I can allow myself to scew up and regardless of my succes at fixing something - I'm having fun and learning!

I am currently studying at university, being 19 years old. Wanted to practice my soldering skills on an old motherboard that I had picked up a long time ago near a trash can. Still a newbie to soldering. One day I remembered about some old broken laptops and other electronics i had lying around for a long time, and that is why I'm here. I probably will not contribute much to this forum for a long time, due to lack of knowlege, but hey, that's why I'm here!

Hi I have been working on the computers since the early 2000s. I taught myself how to build computers and now I am trying to upgrade memory on an Acer predator Helios 18. However, and doing so, I think one of the pens got bent on the port that the battery connects to on the motherboard. Are there any work arounds to fix this? Or am I going to need to send it in to have a new port put on it? Thank you so much!
