New member. 1st post. Electronics technician of over 40years (trained in US Air Force 1970). Although my latter years in lower to middle management, and government technical employment as well as semi-retirement have dulled my trouble shooting skills! Electronics, SWListening, and Ham Radio were always my hobbies since 7th/8th Grade, studied electronics in High School and even had part-time job then in a Weston Instruments Engineering job shop (We repaired, and built custom designed and modified analog meters and instrumentation-no digital then!) I am now looking at getting back into industrial maintenance as a regular electro-mechanical maintenance technician, to get enough funds together in order to retire in dignity rather than poverty! So far, I really like this site and it's helpfulness in component level trouble shooting and hope to make it a regular weekly or daily home. Hopefully I will eventually be able to contribute more help than I take. My interest here is mostly strictly hobby level for updating and resharpening my trouble shooting skills. There is a big need for this kind of forum/website. Kind of wish I'd thought of it myself and don't know why I didn't! Thanks very much for creating this place and being here.
P.S. Forgot to mention that I have a few certifications and licenses both professional and non-pro:
            A+ Certification (Hardware/Computer Tech)
            Electronics Tech Journeyman's Card(AFLCIO/IBEW)
Commercial Radio Telephone License (Aviation Electronics Technician)
            Amateur Radio License (Advanced Class)
Private Pilot License SEL (Single Engine, Land)

Well I been working and tinkering with computers and tv's and car stereo electronics for about 6-8 years now I work on cars for a living (& it dosen't pay well always) but besides that back to the electronics stuff, in my years of "repairing" them i really don't know that much about them (just enough to sometimes make them work again, not always though!) so maybe you all can help me make them work always ... that's why i am here ohhh, and mabe learn something too!!

I am part of a 3 person ET shop. We are all vets (1 Navy & 2 Coast Guard) with over 100 years combined experience in a wide variety of electronics equipment.
I found this site thru 'Google' while looking for information on a particular power board and no schematics.
I and my associates have found this to be a great source of background, information, and advice!
Thank You to the founders and contributors, One person can be very good but a team can become excellent.

                            Hi Guys,
New member Tony here from South Florida. I got drawn to the site due to what I believe is a capacitor issue on a motherboard of a musical instrument I own. I guess most members here started out a similar way looking for help on an issue like this?

I think the repair is very sensitive and I'll be looking for some help from a very skilled hand if that's possible. Plenty details to share, but for now just saying hello and I am really glad this board exists for help like this!
                            Thanks,
                            Tony
