Hi,
I have a 2 year old Westinghouse 52" LCD. The display and sound work just fine.
The problem is that when I power it off, there is a constant ticking/clicking sound coming from inside the back panel. It isn't very loud, but in a silent room, you can hear it. It's almost like an electric arcing noise, ticking/clicking/squealing. It is definitely not coming from the speakers. It is definitely not a heating/cooling issue. When I pull the plug out of the power strip, the ticking/clicking stops. When I plug it back in, it resumes. When I power the TV on, the ticking/clicking turns to a high frequency noise for a brief second and then there is a loud single click and the sound disappears while the TV is on. When I use the "fast startup" option on the TV (I think it keeps the TV powered on with the display in standby, rather than a full power-off), the noise usually isn't there.
I want to know what may be causing this noise and, more importantly, if it is okay to keep operating it like this or if it is something that could further damage the TV down the road.
Thanks,
Steve
