    LG 47LN5400 Replacement backlights

This is more of a general question on replacement led backlight sets .Replaced a full set about 5 months ago on the LG 47LN5400.Set went black again and after opening it up an open led was found.Set was purchased on Ali-express and had the aluminum backs.I think the originals had copper backs .Are these sets too cheap and should I stay away from them.Any set I bought at Shop-jimmey for other tv's had copper backs like the originals and,I assume they may be of better quality and perhaps last a few years .So if anyone has any thoughts on this please share.Backlight sets for me are about 1/3 the cost from China as compared to getting them from the states (I'm in Canada ).I have to pay fairly high shipping costs to Canada as well.I have replaced backlight sets on 2 dozen Tv's the past year or so and need backlights to last a year or two otherwise this repair won't be worth it .

All the LN strips on aliexpress and even shopjimmy are substitute strips. I stick to one or two sellers (not the cheapest) and turn down the backlight to around 55% on ALL sources and apps for smart models. Never had a repeat failure with new strips on LN models doing this. Shopjimmy uses Chinese vendors as well and doubles the price vs buying direct.

We're at the mercy of China for pretty much all replacement parts. They all come from the same place.
I assume no responsibility for any stupid suggestions I might post.

Aluminum type is better for heat transfer and can be found pretty much in all of newer TV's
The copper in original is thin layer, the rest is FR4 which is not good heat conductor.
Still aluminum strips is not a guarantee as it depends on quality of LEDs and assembly.

Thanks for the replies .I figured China has pretty much all the say in this matter.I will just have to find a better supplier on ali-express if thats possible. And hopefully turning down the backlights will extend the repair for a year or two .

Something you can do to help with the longevity is to not use the cheap double-sided tape often provided with those strips, but instead, use thermal conductive double-sided tape. It is marginally more expensive and will help in the long term.

Unknown transformer : how to find a good replacement part ?
              by the_rem
              Hello guys,

I would like a quite old but still good 800 W ATX PSU to be repaired. The problem was an extremely heavy coil whine coming from the small secondary transfomer on the PCB.

I desoldered it hoping the references on the upper side would allow me to find a adequate replacement part. Sadly the written references drove me nowhere but to the manufacturer (I-MAG). I sent them a message like a bottle in the see asking them to send me a datasheet of the transformer. And... They responded ! I received a kind of datasheet (see attachment) but my competencies do not allow...

Samsung UE48H6410 replaced Mainboard but backlights doesnt go on
              by max789
Hello, I have a problem with my Samsung UE48H6410SSXZG with the main board BN41-02156A and the power board BN44-00709A. Everything seemed like this, the TV could no longer be switched on, the standby LED always flashed 5x2 times. Backlight was off and no sound from TV. Also made the flashlight test and there was no picture.

              I made the following tests:
              1. Disconnected the main board from Power Board = backlight works.
              2. Connected the main board and disconnected the T-Con = backlights does not work.

So I ordered a main board from Ebay also BN41-02156A but from...

              VIZIO M557-G0: Backlights or ???
              by bpcannan
              'Morning,
I get sound and picture when powering on the TV and its stays that EXCEPT that the left half of the screen will dim every few seconds then return to normal while the right side of the screen performs as designed.

Did the soft and hard reset options pulling the plug, using the reet option in the vizio menu to no avail.

I checked the mainboard - found some popped capacitors so replaced it - but that did not change the situation.

I checked the t-con board. It is getting good power. Then I removed one ribbon cable to see if I could isolate...

PS4 controller left stick potentiometer replacement issue
              by ezenia
              Hello,

Not sure if this is the correct section, but I have a PS4 controller that I am trying to fix. It developed stick drift on the left stick and the usual simpler methods did not fix the problem.

So I went on eBay and ordered some replacement potentiometers. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/174967976757 is where I got them from.

I took the green potentiometers off the replacement sticks and soldered them onto the PCB. Assembled the controller and ran some tests. The drifting was somewhat fixed (not fully in center, but way better than before). However,...

Samsung UE49MU6400 acts dead until disconnecting backlights, then works.
              by jesterace
Hi everyone I have this TV which was dead one day when I tried to turn it on. I've had the cover off and there was just a pulsating/electrical clicking/ticking noise from the PSU. I disconnected the mainboard as sometimes this works to just fire it up with backlights on? That didn't help. Same noise. Then I disconnected the backlight cable from the PSU and the TV came alive. It appeared to respond to the remote and i'm pretty sure it's fully operational when there is no backlight connected.

However, I am in a dilemma.

I tested the backlight outputs with the lights disconnected...
