    Pioneer PRO-1150

    Ready for a head scratcher?

My PRO-1150 plasma has a strange red snow effect. It only happens on pixels that are bright, and intense, no matter what color is showing. Dark areas of the image are still perfect even if it is a dim white light showing.

There is also a small amount of temporary image retention of the red snow. Meaning, if a bright area goes dark, a ghost of the red snow is left in the darkened image.

With no image showing, just a blank source, there is no flickering, snow, or anything. I've tried the built in screen refresh ( white bar moving left to right)
    with no luck.

    Any ideas?

See if this helps: Use a good fan and blow on the back of the panel in one area at a time. Does it get better? At what area that you blow the air on does it help the most?

I had a plasma that did that when it's Ysus board got to temperature. Added a fan all was Ok. So far been a month without any issues.

That said, if you do have a heat issue and it's related to the Ysus board or Zsus board, it could be caused by drying-out heatsink compound.

Also check the power supply for bulging caps. It may be caused by Vs voltage issues. Vs should be somewhere around 170V-210V, depending upon your screen. Your power supply board may say what range is Ok on it somewhere.
